This is al to complicated for my weeee little brain

But just incase its a SEO or landing page issue, when you are using SCCP as the shop, and an outside home page in VSD i think the SCCP is doing its own intentional thing with the index and home pages.

Likelihood is anyway that once your shop is found by Google, CUSTOMERS will be finding a product page in google searches and NOT the home page or shop home page .

I would say a good 75% of my customers never even see yet alone look at the homepages at all

If its SEO your worried about, dont, the cart is very SEO friendly

I just thought it would be strange to have to use my Press page as a home page (who does that? :o) and that I couldn't have both as separate pages as most websites do.

I've been working on another workaround. I am going to create a "fake" index.htm that is identical to the shop home page that I want displayed, encoded with the redirect tag to the real shop home where I want visitors to land. That way, no Press page will flash for a second prior to the redirect and then the Press page will be functional, not having a redirect tag at all.

Thanks for your help again guys. I know I come up with some doozies.

So without having read this entire 3 page thread, and going by what I'm seeing on this page of posts.... why do you have your domain pointing to your wordpress site/page if you want people going to your shop as the main landing page?

Sounds to me that you just need to adjust where your domain is directing your traffic to fix that?

You can have both pages.:) I think the one with the best and most relevant content will be the most important.:)
JoAnn, there's no WordPress involved. I got caught in that loop already.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Long story Jo Ann but that is exactly what I wanted to do, was have visitors land on my shop home page. Unfortunately, that was not possible because with Network Solutions, I can point my domain to a directory, but not a specific page. Index.php would be the default but my Shop Home is home.php so that would not work. If I switched my Shop Home (home.php) and Press page (index.php), then my shop banner links to the Press page, which also would not make sense.

In the end, I did a major workaround and created an index.htm page that resembles my Shop Home page with a html tag that redirects to the Shop Home (mywebsite.com/shop/home.php). This will work for now.
