Any options for offline payments?

I've used Shopping Cart Creator Pro quite successfully when PayPal payments is suitable for all transactions. I'm currently working with a business owner whose business model requires him to accept offline payments. He and I would really prefer to use Cart Creator but the inability to do offline payments directly through the Web is a deal killer for him. Assuming that offline transactions are not part of the roadmap, does anyone have experience with or suggestions as to how to incorporate offline payments with Cart Creator using other CoffeeCup software or services? The key integration point for him is inventory management. Frankly, he struggles with it today and any e-commerce site he operates must have full inventory management for him to succeed. His customers can deal with separate forms or even emails if they wish to pay offline (or by PayPal invoice) but he would need the inventory for purchased items to update even if the transaction doesn't go through PayPal directly from the cart.

Thanks for any tips or insight that you can provide!

Hiya Bryan,

I'm afraid that the Shopping Cart programs by CC do not have any options at all for doing offline payments. If he didn't really need the "inventory" control you could opt to do a Web Form builder setup instead of the shopping cart, but you won't get that with Web Form Builder either so you may be out of luck on this issue. I don't know if any future updates or remakes will be including any offline payment systems or not, I haven't heard anything one way or the other about it so you may want to add a suggestion to the SCCP suggestions thread as I know you're not the first to ask for this feature.

Good luck on it either way and hope you find a good solution to work with. Others here may have some ideas on getting around this with SCCP, but I don't recall seeing any posts before where anyone gave ideas for editing the program files for this.

Thanks, Jo Ann. As I wrote out the question I was almost sure that yours would be the standard response. But it's been over a year since I last researched this topic so maybe someone has a creative idea. Just a shame that he's looking at spending over $50 a month for a SAS solution when SCCP does almost everything he needs. :(

I once helped hook up the cart running as a catalog to Mal's e-commerce as the payment platform. (http://www.mals-e.com/). Worked fairly well as I remember. Can't show you the site as it no longer exists since the owner passed away a couple of years ago.

Can't remember all the details now but do remember we were only dealing with about 250 products. Might be worthwhile checking out.

Yeah I thought of that too, but the key message I read in the original post was the need for inventory control which the catalog would not include unfortunately. Otherwise that would have been a perfect solution.

You're right Jo Ann. I did ignore the inventory portion of his post. I've often been puzzled why CC basically stopped with the CCSCCP development at about 80/85 percent of an excellent shopping cart and settled for just "good" and even if they do come out with a "responsive" version and it has not been updated for coupons, flexibility of payments and the other numerous suggestions made in this forum -- then it will just be "good" also, instead of excellent.

Rant over. Sorry guys, just the way I believe about it.

He opted for a SAS solution today. :(

I understand that CoffeeCup can't afford to make the product all things to all people but this is the 3rd time I've been unable to use it because it lacked features that were critical to the shop owner. I'll keep checking back, though!

There is no viable option for offline payments. The only practical way to do that would be more of a web form based solution with the ability to print off the order page.

It is true that SCC lacks useful features that would make it a far more useful software. The ability to add text input for customised items, or even a simple notes to seller box as part of the checkout process is probably its biggest downfall in its current format. The program hasn't had any new features since summer 2011 now. :(

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
