Adding Social Media to Pages

Hey - I've been reading through the forum for about 45 minutes and can't seem to find the answer, so forgive me if this is answered nearby!

Cart is here - http://www.cakepopmyheart.com/index.php

I've built a cart for a cakery and the owner wants me to add her "like Facebook" button on the site. It took forever, but I have it added to the footer as I couldn't make it work any place else.

Now she wants me to add her "Twitter and Blog" links, but using pictures/logos, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to add those images or links.

I've read dozens of posts on how to paste in code, but I"m not a coder and you may as well be speaking brain surgery. (I also use VSD, but couldn't figure out how to get the code from that).

So, could anyone assist me in "A-B-C" instructions on how to add these social links to the body of a page?

Haha, a simple "insert picture' button would probably make a lot of people happy! ;)

Thanks in advance.

The answer is this Mark. Embed the following code into a main page, category or even specific product. By way of example: Insert:

[[[<a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=##########" target="_blank"><IMG SRC="/shop/extraimages/facebook.jpg"></a>]]]

Ok the profile ID would need to be edited and you will have to upload the FaceBook icon in a subfolder of your making on your server and address the path within the code snippet. Just visit your pals Facebook entry page and copy the full path as displayed by your browser and then paste into the snippet. Go here for a real example.

and view the product. A current project that I am working on. Kind regards. Matt

I have been able to add the Facebook LIKE button to my site, and it works in Chrome browser, but it doesn't in IE (atleast not IE9). Is there something extra that has to be done for it?

The facebook like button does show in IE9 when I have it on site, but when I click button to LIKE (even when hasnt been clicked before) noting happens. It works fine in Chrome though.

I just tested your shop like button and it worked for me in IE9. It asked me to login to facebook when I clicked it. Do you have compatibility mode on or off in IE9?

Thx Eric, it wasn't my shop site I was having problems with, was my current non shop site, www.cakesbysherry.ca , but it was because of the compatibility settings that was causing problems, once I unclicked all the settings the LIKE button worked fine.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
