Quantity Sold Field?

Is there a way to have the number of a particular item that was sold of it on the item? I'm doing a contest for a charity and people pick their favorite pet portrait by buying votes at $1 each. If I can have the number of votes for each pet showing on the item, it might spur some competition and raise more funds. Any help on this?

Here is the link of what I've got so far:

Hiya Mark,

I don't believe this can be done with the Cart at this time. The only thing you could do here would be to create an inserted script of your own (or borrow one from a site etc.) that you can increment it manually. I don't know if this type of feature will be added or not, would be a nice one, but I don't know if a database would be required for this or not and if so then it probably will not be added anytime soon if at all.

If it were to be added, it would once again be done in the Creator not the Designer. Keep in mind that the Creator program deals with all things about your products, the designer deals with all things on the looks of the shop. Therefore, anything to do with pricing, or incrementing etc, will be done in the Creator.

Having said all this, there is a tricky little possibility here you could use such as maybe a backwards countdown? The current Pro version has an inventory tracker built in, and if you were to set the inventory of each of your products to a particular number, then add a sentence at the bottom area of the page that will tell them what you're doing and what number you started with you could in a sense do this, just backwards? Not sure if that would work, just throwing a possibility out there for what the software is able to do at the moment :)

Good luck with it no matter which way you end up doing it :)

The only thing that comes to mind for me is to add a survey type script which people click on to express a reference...
For instance, this site offers free polls or paid polls...

I thought Scott said in another post recently that inserting javascript into the html area is not support by the cart?

Tom... right. I actually mean that this should be on a different page altogether and not in the store. Sparklit (from what I recall) allows you to create a poll and then read the results and it would be pointless setting it up dozens of times according to how many pet portraits are to be voted. It makes more sense to me to set it up just once on a separate page. This would mean, however, that you will have to be pretty convincing to get those who vote to go and add a preference in the poll also... bit convoluted I'm afraid.

I didn't think so. I was questioning Jo Anns suggestion to "create an inserted script of your own..."

Oops, my mistake. I meant this to be in Creator, not Designer. Thanks for the tips everyone. I thought this was stretching CCC abilities a little with this one.

I wasn't thinking about type of script, just thinking scripts in general. I do know that flash works, but yeah Scott said java wouldn't and since I never tried other things I guess there might be something else that works :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
