Catagory Thumbnail Links and Text...

Well, this is kind of an interesting situation. I recently found out that you could add thumbnails and text to the catagory and subcatagory headers in SCCP. This solved one problem of wanting to display some example images by displaying them on the subcatagory page. Now the interesting thing is that clicking on the catagory header will link to it's product page, but clicking on the thumbnail will not. However, clicking on the subcatagory header or thumbnail will work. Any idea how I can get the catagory thumbnails to work as links? It's kind of strange behavior.
The other ??????? is that the regular catagories on the home page display the text from the associated page. The subcatagory does not. Just kinda wierd to me. I would expect the catagory and subcatagory behaviors to be the same.
Any way to control this?

Sorry Hazy I It should be like this.:)
[[[<div align="center"><a href="http://www.stephanniscott.com/shop/viewcategory.php?groupid=0"><img src="http://www.stephanniscott.com/shop/ccdata/images/imageThumbCat_0.jpg"></a></div>]]]Original Water Colors

Now just edit the code to fit each page and image url.
You can type text into the window where your putting links so that the discription follows the image. You can change the properties of the text with the window settings so that you don't have to type the code for it.

Hi Eric -
Thanks for the suggestions but it's not exactly what I'd like to do. Adding your html does add a thumbnail as a link, but the thumbnail is already published under the catagory header. Grated, I could delete these but the then page layout is wacked. It also doesn't explain why the subcatagory header, in this case "Custom Images" operates almost the way I want. That is the thumbnail and header text are both links to the page but the page text doesn't display. I can live with this if I have to.:/

I guess the really big issue for me is the catagory thumbnails not acting as links. IMHO, this is a major glitch. People are so used to clicking on the images on a page they often times won't bother to click text. I think this really a sales stopper as visitors will assume the link is broken and leave.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

You should be able to use the code I gave you as thumbnails for your Main categories also. You have to either upload smaller images for the links or right the code to make them display smaller on your page. DBL click on the orange main category bar and insert the code into the white window to the right. Don't add an image to the picture spot on the left.:)

Hazy, Here is some code to help with sizing. It works off percent so you get the right propotions.
I put the alt text in there also.
Let me know, because maybe I'm missing what you really want.:)

Thanks Eric,
I think I've got a pretty good handle on this now. I followed your code and also your earlier advice and deleted the main catagory images, created another main catagory with a subcatagory and turned off the thumbnail diplay on the shop home page. I think it's working well now. I'm waiting for all the correct images, pricing etc. and a new logo, should be okay for now. I do believe that the behavior of SCCP in this instance is pretty strange in not linking the catagory thumbnails to the product pages but I guess that's just me. I do have more questions concerning inventory and such but I'll take them to the SCCP forum where they probably belong. Just got a phone call telling me to report for snow duty from 8 pm to 3 am so it looks like along night!
Thanks again!
