Workflow with RLMP - Page 1

New to the forum. I did the free trial of RLMP and played with it as much as I could in 7 days (didn't even get a whole page created! Too short for me. Things are really busy at work). I like what I'm seeing though. Not sure how to form my question, but here goes.

Lets say you get your layout all fine tuned in RLMP, export and open in your HTML editor (I've used Coffeecup for quite a few years) and then add content, etc. Your website looks great. But then you want to add more content to a page down the road or even change some layout slightly in the content area. What then? Can you somehow put the framework for a page back into RLMP, make the changes, and the re-export it? Or do you have to redesign the layout of that page in RLMP, export and then go back and re-enter the old content (images, text, etc.) that you did not need to make any changes on, plus add the new content? Or. . . . ?

I hope that makes sense. I make changes and add content all the time to my site (http://www.puppetsandprops.com/) currently in the HTML editor, which I am used to. Just trying to understand how that aspect will work in connection with RLMP. I know I really need to go to a responsive site, and RLMP sure looks like the ticket.

Thanks in advance for any insights into this question.

Open your project back up in RLM and make the needed changes. Then export again and add the content back into it again with the html editor.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Would it be possible to just recreate a section of a page, rather than having to re-do, export and re-add all the content?
For example, if I had a grid of 12 photos and need to add 3 more photos. Could I take just that section out of the HTML page, open it in RLM, rework the layout and go from there?

Photos wouldn't be a problem because you can place the proper path to those within the app.

Maybe a different example then... Some other chunk of code that needed to be changed frequently...
Do you have to work with a whole page in RLM, or can you re-arrange/edit just the section that needs to be edited?

Hey Eric. Thanks! Sounds like photos aren't bad in that scenario, but if you had a lot of other types of content that were already in place, then it could potentially take a bit of time. Unless I'm misunderstanding something.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Michael I can read your point there if it's complex website I guess I have to scratch my head in my side.

Any changes made to a layout outside RLM will have to be redone again after making any changes to the layout in RLM and exporting it. Now depending on the change you could export and grab just that from the new layout and place that in the old one. You will have to switch out the the other files also to make sure all the changes get transfered. I do this with the form builder all the time because I have forms that are heavily modified and I'm only after the needed change.

Thanks for the further clarification Eric. I have taken a row, say like of photos, copied and pasted the code, and then inserted new photos in the new row. That seems to work fine, as long as I don't chop the code off in the wrong place. :) But I can see where one would need to take care with copy and paste and not goof something up.

Mansour.... yes, I see that for a complex website, that has to be updated frequently, it could be more than a bit or work to do the updates. I guess that 'comes with the territory' of responsive design.
