What is Red Mailer

I'm not ready to really start using RED yet but have a question.

I bought the RED Business version. I noticed in the download area that there's a file called RED Mailer.

Do I actually need that or is that the free version?

Just wondering,

Like you Ernie, I bought the personal version as it seemed the solution to the odd html email that I would like to send to my customers. In time I could expand the use of this software to offers and upgrades or just a simple Christmas message.
I don't use the mailer subscription as I have hosting with another company and am quite happy to link any images to my server.
Version 2 is a new release and has been added to your account to download. It does contain some upgrades to the old personal or business version and is a good bit of software. The thing is that it is marketed as "free" rather than as a cost to upgrade as I see it.
To use the new software you will have to pay a monthly cost of $9.00. I am in the UK and that is £7.35. It seems that coffeecup are angling towards a monthly subscription to use their software.
I have removed the version 2 and gone back to my old personal RED version.
I go way back with coffeecup and I mean way back and they have made some great software, But as a hosting provider? Well no,

Responsive Email Designer 2.0 is currently in beta and complimentary with all of our customers who are on the Mailer plan.

With this update, there are no more big releases with upfront license costs — instead you will get a continuous stream of cool improvements and new features. We'll also be able to tweak the email script generator as soon as an email client display rules change (like we recently saw with Gmail.) Along with that, you'll get automatic image hosting, the ability to share components between projects, plus access to both the Windows and Mac versions (BONUS!!).

Whether you're currently a subscriber or not, we welcome you to try it out. Version 2.0 is a huge update and is based on the Business version of RED but with all these amazing new features.
  • Accelerate your design time using Components The Components Library is exciting! Save commonly used items and reuse them with any of your projects. We think of these as legos — building blocks for email design. Frequently used items (headers, footers, buttons, etc.) that have a consistent appearance and can be reused and modified without needing to rebuild with each project.
  • 32 templates inside the new Theme Chooser (newsletters, sales notices, receipts, and more)
  • A zoom-out control for designing emails wider than your screen. (see more vertically too)-
  • Support for multiple classes! (go wild, make a variation of a variation.)
  • An updated color picker. (Grab a color from anywhere on your screen and save colors to a palette.)
  • A more powerful email generator. (includes the latest standards for the top email clients)
  • The ability to iIndividually reset styles. (no more starting over if you change your mind on a style)
  • We made some tweaks on the backend, and yes, exterminated a few bugs too. Sierra users can rejoice — that pesky span setting that was not saving has been resolved. :)
  • New Inspector pane.

If you are currently on the Personal version, this upgrade will be massive! As RED 2.0 comes out of beta, more details on all your upgrade options will be made available.

But as a hosting provider? Well no,

Why not? Did we do something wrong? :)

Just wondering while I have both RED Business & Personal version why Red Mailer isn't in my download list then?

By the way, I never liked image hosting things unless it's free for Biz edition and I suggest here again as I mentioned before , please let some flexibility to RED to host / upload our images in many hosting source such as our own server, dropbox or google drive and etc... through ftp not directing linking source.

Some responsive email applications out there let us directly send image too and I personally never encountered any problem with display on devices.

I bought RED 1.3 for business two years ago, but I don't see any 'RED Mailer' in my downloads list. Is this an S-drive only thingie? And will it be also for hosting elsewhere once a stable version is launched?

This was addressed in my post below Inger. ;)

I do not believe I am on the "mailer plan" but Responsive Email Designer 2.0 for Win and OS X is on my download list.

I did purchase Red Personal 1.3 quite a while ago.

Is the mailer plan something I will be charged for?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
