Hiya Norman,

Not to rain on your parade as I'm sure you have to be relieved that it's working, but I do have to be responsible enough to tell you that the <font> tags are not a good idea as they are deprecated (meaning they are being weaned out of the loop eventually and won't work for a lot of browsers once they stop supporting it). Hopefully you can get the CSS to work as it should rather than using the old style tags. If you need more information on this and other deprecated tags you can find a lot of info on the http://www.w3schools.com/tags/default.asp which lists all of the currently supported tags and shows which tags are considered deprecated at this time. Good luck on it whichever way you decide to go with it :)

Because of implicit or explicit padding and margins. :)

It's not fair ...

Just as I get the hang of html, <font>, <p> , .... they are going to phase this out, or they hop about, and I have to learn new languages.

¿Is it a conspiracy to keep the 'expert' web designers in work?

I have been using the w3schools css tutorials - excellent - so now will go deeper into managing my fonts with css ..... just when I want to go out and dance instead of being sat here at the screen.
I don't know anything. I'm just doing my best to humbly listen to guidance from the greater wisdom.

Only certain tags aer depreciated and the <font> tag is one of them. Learn CSS to change font attributes through styles. The <p> tag is not depreciated.

Even the "expert" web designers have to learn and adapt when things change for the better. :)
