I have changed a lot of files on my home computer and want to upload them to my web site. When I do, it adds them as index-1.html instead of index.html which involves a lot of renaming files.
Is there a clean way to update the web site without renaming??

Use an external ftp client or login to your host to delete all the old files first.:)

I have never known the HTML Editor to ever change the names of your files on you whether when you're saving them or uploading them, so I would definitely suggest doing as Eric suggests and deleting all the files from your server for your website and reuploading them. There's definitely something going on there that shouldn't be, but I don't really think the HTML Editor is what is doing it.

Sounds like the settings are not set to 'overwrite existing file'. Ergo, it's creating a new file with a similar name without prompting you. How you change this in HTML Editor I'm not sure but hang in there, someone else should be along soon!

I went into the web site and added an A to all the files, ie, index.html became Aindex.html
Then when I loaded the new files in all the old files got canceled! So I am happy!!

What happens if you upload again?

Gunsmoke brought this up....
File Upload Overwrite
Choose what you would like the program to do when it tries to upload a file with the same name as a
file already on your folder: ask what you would like to do, automatically overwrite it, or skip that file.

Check this in your FTP settings, no need to rename files, the old just gets replaced with the new.

If you go to
My Websites
Website Project Settings...
Then click on Configure Servers.
Then select the one your using and click on "Edit".
Now click on "Advanced"
There's a box to that's labeled "File Upload Overwrite:"
There you can choose:
Ask
Overwrite
Skip
Or as in my setup I have chosen nothing and left it blank.
