Upload and Startup
Hello,
I may have enquired about this before, and apologise if I have.
I have just two things that would be really good in a new release.
The first is to be able to set up how the files are displayed on the left side
of the screen, as I would like to have 'List' view as my default view and not have to
select it everytime I run the HTML editor.
The second thing would be, to be able to assign my upload directory, always HTDOCS, to a customisable button, so I can upload files at a single button press....
Thankyou
Peter

You can have both.
Select the 'initial folder' to be My computer, and set your 'Working folder' to the one you want to have displayed (done in Preferences).
As for upload, you can customize the toolbars so that you have the Upload button visible someplace in the menu bar.

Hiya Peter,
I'm curious as to what the difference between an upload button and highlighting and right clicking upload to server is. It really always depends on the Project you currently have open so you can always tell it any directory you want, if it's always the same for all of your projects (which would be pretty strange hehe) then assign them all the same, but you should be able to tell it whatever directory you want and it will upload there for that project.
I don't understand the tree thing so I'll leave that alone lol. I use the My Websites tab which is always in a list type view so I don't think about it and I'm assuming you're using the My Computer tab which I don't use hardly ever. I forget that it's there really till someone brings up something to remind me lol. Anyways, if you don't need to have full access of your full computer in the tree, try the My Websites tab and see if that works for you. If you need the full tree for your full computer then.... never mind

Thankyou both for your replies, I am fine with the opening
in a working directory, no problems there.
I expect I am doing things all upside down, and have my html files in an htdocs working directory,
CoffeeCup HTML editor is set to always go there and display files at startup...
I am just asking that the way files are displayed in future releases, is cutomisable and 'locked' on to.
As at present the editor opens up displaying files in 'details' view when using 'my computer'
It gets deeper................. As, if I set the editor to open in 'My Websites', the view is 'list' view, except it will not allow multiple file selection and then upload using the upload facility, it just bombs out.....
A single file can be uploaded, but not multiple files...
I may be doing all this in an odd way, my site is very simple, and I just work on each file as I need to, then upload it/them when I am done.
The files displayed in 'My Computer' can be uploaded as a multiple batch, yet the files displayed in 'My Websites' cannot.
The destination directory of HTDOCS, has to be navigated to, and I have not been able to set a predetermined 'path' using the upload facility, I always have to navigate there and select the htdocs directory as the destination....
Basically it would be nice to right click a file in the editor, or select multiple files from the sidebar, and just 'upload'.... The destination directory having been preset already...
I am sorry if this is confusing, its not really, and I guess i am just hopeless at describing things. All very normal for me I am afraid :-)

Hiya Peter,
I'm not sure why you're having issues with the My Websites tab and multi file uploading. I'm able to highlight using the Ctrl+left click as many files and/or folders as I like and upload them all at the same time without any issues at all, so maybe it's something to do with your settings? Not sure there sorry.
I am unfamiliar with the HTDOCS as the default directory, but wouldn't that be the same as when I use public_html/ for mine? I'm just assuming here but try putting that in your default remote directory box and see if that works? It really should I would think. I have to insert:
/public_html/
try this:
/HTDOCS/ (check your caps to make sure if it's captilized on the server or not as that matters too)
For your site URL enter exactly as it is for the domain, no folders after just the main domain. That "should" all work, holler at me and let me know if it does or not, because I should also know this for future reference so I don't keep saying this to people using HTDOCS if it doesn't work.
Good Luck on it *crosses fingers it works for you*

Hello Jo Ann,
Well.................. I got it to work!
I had to just fill out the server details in the Website projects configuration.
The greyed out option to upload now appears, and is unconditional, it just 'does it'
and uploads whatever I have selected, single and multiple files.
That's great, I do apologise for taking so long to do this stuff, its now just what I was after,
and the My Websites tab shows the list view and has the fast upload.
I use htdocs as my root directory as I thought that was the accepted and standard way of
doing it................
Thanks for helping with it
