Unwanted Multiple Repeats Going From...

You certainly did see the warning at one time because it's enables be default. The problem is people don't read, and get click happy. The only thing experience has do with anything is - hey, I just tried to do something and this box popped up. The program is reaching out to me. Perhaps I should read it in case it's important information. :)

Hi,

Certainly a positive statement that.... I can assure you I have not had any such dialogue like those Jo Ann posted.

I have the latest recent build, and no warnings came up, they certainly don't seem to reset to default each time i have an update from Coffee Cup.

Do ALL the defaults get reset every time there is a new release ?

It doesn't alter the fact that it seems prevalent enough to cause quite a few people to have problems, and a one time dialogue, I would have thought, was a little iffy...Thats all.

I believe when the program is installed, it displays by default. You have to elect to not show it again. Updates probably do not alter the registry setting. So once you elect not to see the message again, an update probably doesn't change the key value.

It's OK, everybody is click happy and we all forget. :)

Hi All,

Well, I am back to read what came after. Quite a thread. Weird that the conversation devolved to how it is the user's fault that the software does not work.

I said that Frontpage 97 has no problem allowing html and visual editing. Tom said it's still a snap. Then you all went on with how it can't be done and the software whould be disabled instead of just warning posted.

You know 90% of the web is still html?

Isn't there software available like Front Page 97 that I can use on my Windows 7 64-bit machine?

Gary,

You can use any html editing software which is compatible with Win7/64. I have the same OS. I use the CoffeeCup HTML Editor, but I learnt the lesson years ago that this particular software cannot be used to switch between code mode and visual mode.

But what you can do is using code mode and the 'Split screen' view. You switch it on under View. Then you can see what the code is doing to your page as you type along.

The HTML standards are changing, yes, and the preferred way to code now is to keep the page layout in a css file separate from the html file. But there is no law forbidding the use of layout tables! If you need to have a site up and running soon, just do it with the tables the way you are familiar with from FrontPage. If you want to improve your skills at a later stage, when you have some time on your hands, you can always start learning CSS, it is not at all difficult, and we are here to assist, along with a whole range of websites especially designed for teaching various web skills.

Anyway, good luck with it.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Thanks all.

I will probably eventually change my formatting (at biopatent.com) some day but I have a lot of pages and too many other projects right now.

Nothing more consuming than a new computer and a lot of outdated software.

Best regards,

Gary
