Why are some newer tags such as <footer> and <section> showing in red in the editor? These are interpreted fine in most browsers.

Are you using any Javascripts on your page? Try validating your page and see if you have another tag unclosed.

Craig, you should also check Preferences > General > Initial DOCTYPE and make sure HTML5 is selected.
