Scrolling in Code Editor mode is slow...

Hello folks,

As the search '(scrolling OR scroll) AND editor' produced 0 results, I started a new thread.

My problem is that scrolling in the Editor mode is slow: when I roll the wheel 1 notch, the text moves up only 1 line. While in other programs, and in the CC Visual Editor and Preview modes for that matter, the text moves 6 lines per notch.

Is there a way to set this (version 2005F)? If not, do the CC folks regard it as a bug and would they be willing to fix it?

Frank ... I started a thread (http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/topic-archives/how-do-i-know-if-a-problem-in-fixed/78) regarding this issue and no one else, until you, has indicated they also see the problem. On my WXP machine, the scrolling is slow and choppy while on my W2k machine, scrolling is exactly the same as in other programs. Not sure this can be an issue they can resolve since we're the only two people who seem to have the problem.

I've updated my graphic drivers, mouse drivers, etc. to no avail on WXP and I don't know what else to try as the slow choppy scrolling only happens when I'm using CC Code Editor. Scrolling in the preview window works just like any other program.

Sorry I can't be more help, but at least we're not alone. If I come up with something that works, I'll post and let you know.

Hi Debbie,

I would think its the combination of user-side soft- or hardware and CC. There's gotta be something with CC (as well), because our problems only manifest in the Code Editor mode.

But there seems to be a problem with our soft- or hardware as well, because on my XPHE notebook everything works fine (built-in 4-way scroll button), only to see that on my 98 desktop scrolling is only 1 line per notch, in the Code Editor mode.

What mouse(s) are you using? On my problem-giving 98 desktop I use a MS IntelliMouse TrackBall.

My mice (both Microsoft Optical USB Scollers) work identically on my machine at work and at home. Between these two machines the only difference is work machine runs W2K and home machine runs WXP. The mouse problems appear in the same programs in each -- in Lotus Notes, the scroll wheel does not work anywhere except inside an open message window -- CoffeeCup HTML scrolling is slow and choppy in code view, but preview mode scroll is just like any other program.

Weird problem.

I'm also stuck scrolling rather slowly. I noticed it with the first 2005, if I remember correctly, but I think it may have also done it in 9.x?

WinXP Pro, wireless optical 2-button/wheel Dell mouse, CC 2005 - work
WinXP Pro, MS tilt-wheel wireless optical mouse/keyboard, CC 2005 - home
generic MS mouse drivers running both

I usually resort to the arrow keys on the keyboard, since I'm 99% in code editor and just stick to the keyboard. I would like it to scroll consistently in code editor as it does elsewhere and in other programs.

I've got this same problem in Windows 7 with CC HTML Editor. The mouse scrolls fine in the Preview mode but not in the Code Editor.

Im on a 32bit Windows 7 system, using a Logitech mouse (which did work okay with CC on windows XP Pro). All other software works as expected, its just the code editor window :(

My CC version is 2010 Build 369

Did anyone ever find a solutin to this?

Seems there is no solution? Anyone? Shame as while it worked properly I really enjoyed working with this editor. :(

Well guys, I don't know what to tell you on this. The post you posted on was like 6 years old lol. Truly there isn't much code the same in that version as there is in the current I'm betting.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. Most recent version of HTML Editor and I have no scrolling issues. Maybe you have something in your code that is messing it up or there is something else contributing to the problem.

I would truly suggest you open a support ticket when no one answers a post. That usually means no one else has the issue, or they don't know the answer. This is a user forum not the dev forum so you do need to put in support tickets like any other software you purchase would expect.

To open a ticket go to the top menu, mouse over Support button, choose the My Support Room and open a new post on the right menu.

Good luck and do come back and let us know what the problem was for you.
