Question on the editor

Ok succumbed to buying html editor for Windows since it looked like an update for the Mac version was coming no time soon. I do feel it is a bit of a rip off having to buy both versions if you have a Mac and Windows computers. You should be able to load both given they are basically the same thing only one is way out of date.

Anyway probably been asked already but why, when creating a new html from the splash window do we have the option of updating the colours of links etc. No one uses style tag in header and this stuff goes in the main css file. Yes I know there is an option elsewhere in the file menu. Just asking why this is here. It is bad practice.

It's not always bad practice.;)

Actually, the two programs are not the same. They both have the same function -- to create web pages. However, the Windows and Mac operating systems are very different and handle software differently as well. Therefore, CC can't just repackage one program into the other. Each has to be programmed separately. That's why each program is sold separately.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

Thanks Brian

In that case when can Mac users expect an update to Web Editor. There have been two updates to the windows version in the time I have had the mac version. While I respect that a lot of work is being done on the responsive side, time was found to update HTML Editor. What about the Mac Customers, are we just being forgotten about as far as an updated editor is concerned.

If I have a small number of style attributes for just one page, I usually put them in the header section - these pages are usually temporary and I can remove the page without bothering about unused stuff remaining in the CSS file.

Sorry it has been so long since I replied. I'm in the middle of going through the mortgage process on my first house, so there has been a lot to do between job, family and getting the home loan. I don't work for Coffeecup, so I can't speak to the why and when. However, I can tell you that many of the CC employees are hardcore Mac users. (It's their fault that I switched to Mac.) Because of the nature of the Web, I can understand why their effort is on the responsive products right now. As just one example, every site must be responsive or Google will de-rank the site for mobile searches.

I'm glad to hear that you are using HTML Editor though. Web Editor has its perks and so does HTML Editor. Among other things, HTML Editor works better (in my opinion) with other programming languages such as PHP, and now, with Libraries, it is even better. So hang tight. My guess is that it might take awhile, but the updates to Web Editor will happen.

Yes I am aware of Google prioritising Responsive sites. Glad to hear an update will eventually arrive for web editor. I do like the windows version better, but i don't like windows per say but luckily my wife has one of those Windows 8 disaster laptops.

...my wife has one of those Windows 8 disaster laptops.

Tell her to keep her eyes open for the free Win 10 upgrade. It popped up on my husband's laptop a few days ago and I'm hoping to see it appear on my Win 8.1 soon. :D

Congrats on the house, Brian!
