I was curious about the new html editor and just down loaded it for a test.
In the visual layout i tried several quick boxes with different backgrounds and an image as well I saved this as well as a code version.
I have VSD so that's why I was interested in the HTML se
I also saved the files as html 3.2 from the setup page.
When I tested it in the browser it worked as it should.
But, my bad, there's always a but, and seeing I'm just trying this for the first time, I'm sure it's on me.
I tried to open the HTML file in Dream Weaver mx 2004 but the screen came up a series of characters such as one might see when a word processing doc is opened in the wrong format.
Is there a html attribute that I should set first or Where is the problem, besides me :)
BTW I can open a VSD index.html in DW with no issues. I just thought I should be able to do this in DW also.
Thanks Wyndham

Might have found the problem. In the quick start menu down at the character set option
Where I selected "UTF-8" what was placed in the code was UNICODE not UTF-8
When I changed it to :

<html lang="en" xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>test 2</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
<meta content="CoffeeCup HTML Editor (www.coffeecup.com)" name="generator"/>
<meta content="Wed, 07 Jul 2010 20:27:26 GMT" name="created"/>
<meta name="description"/>
<meta name="keywords"/>
<style type="text/css">

It worked in DW.
Just thought I'd mention this. as the quick start does not appear to put the correct character set definition in that one chooses
Thanks for looking, Wyndham

Wait! not quite yet!

Wyndham,

There was indeed an error in the charset metatag, which CC discovered last night. They are fixing it and will issue an update some time later today.

The reason why you didn't get any reply to your post yesterday, was probably because everyone who had experienced this error was trying to find out what caused it, and we didn't think of looking at the meta tags. ;) The discussion about it was going on here: http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/html-ed … n-is-here/

I'll leave the thread open until tomorrow, just in case you want to comment it.

Thanks Inger. My wife says that I go around in circles to solve a problem. The conversation with myself in the above posts is an example of that.
I didn't expect an answer so much as I wanted to help in defining the problem then when I saw the header was different it made sense to express that POV.
Glad it's being handled. I have the highest regards for CC and the minions that slave at coding :)
I have not found a better group with better support.
Thanks again Wyndham
