paintbrush. I haven't looked recently, but I heard that Web Developer was no longer supported with the latest version of FF. Maybe that has been put right, but the risk is always there that the developer might not keep up with updates of his own.

I suggest you go into preferences and make all your comments a bright colour (red?) which will show up in the middle of your code.
I then suggest that you create and save a warning snippet written in upper case and just throw that in between the code when you are going between visual and code editors. All you then need to do is scroll to the point where you added in your bright red comment to return to your page position. Inevitably having your line numbers on helps and you just remember the line you need to return to.

As an interim measure this will tide you over until maybe CC gets around to making any changes.

ps. just remember to remove the comment before you continue coding otherwise you will have comments all over the place and not remember which one to go back to

I have it on the latest FF and haven't struck any issues yet.

I discovered this when I went in to Mozilla to take a look at their latest addons, and there, next to Web Developer, was the warning that it would not operate with the latest version of the browser (which I downloaded and installed). What I have found is that it seems to pop up now and again in the browser, and some bits are no longer available. Later I will check this out again because it could be the developer has sorted the glitches. It is just so darn useful and after the CC Editor, probably my second true love!

Must admit I haven't used many of the features since reformatting and installing the latest version of FF. I hope it all still works as I use it a lot usually. A very neat little add-on. If it doesn't work properly I might have to go back to the previous version.

I think having a visual editing feature is fine, even though I don't use it at all. Those who hate it and don't want it can hide it and never be bothered by it, so what's the big deal? Harking back to the times it wasn't a part of the editor, these forums (or the forums that were operating then) were littered with requests for a visual editor, mostly from people who were raw beginners and who needed visual design. I began my web-building career using a WYSIWYG editor because I didn't know *bleep* about coding. I was soon frustrated by limitations of most WYSIWYG editors I tried, though some, like Dreamweaver (which is and always has been far too expensive; I bet there are more cracked copies of that software than any other on the web) did have excellent features, were relatively easy to use and most importantly, cut very clean code. Anyway, the visual tab was added to CCHTML to satisfy people crying out for that feature; and it shows. No disrespect to CC because the implementation is great and it works well, but it always has seemed like it was tacked on for convenience and to gain entry to the vast WYSIWYG editor market.

For the sake of a few lines of code (yeah right), CC was cutting themselves out of the biggest web-editor market. Far more people want WYSIWYG than 'plain' editors, especially those who will probably only ever make one site in their lives (I will probably get flamed for saying this, but people who can only deisgn visually have no place being professional web developers). This is evidenced by the popularity of editors like Frontpage *gag*, Expression, Dreamweaver, NetOjects Fusuion, Namo Web Editor and a dozen others. All have huge customer bases and loyal fans just like you and me. At the end of the day, the visual side of CC's editor is functional, but other dedicated WYSIWYG editors offer more feature-wise. I would prefer development focused on improving the code editor rather than trying to improve the visual side but that said, for the very reasons mentioned above, CC stand to lose a huge potential return on investment by dropping the visual side altogether, which is why I think it will always be included.

Dave I think you're missing the point of this thread just a little. The idea here we're asking for isn't for an update or anything similar to the visual part of the HTML Editor, we're asking for the visual part to be linked in "with" the code part like Dreamweaver and a few other code editors are. This making it more useful to both coders and visual editors at the same time rather than one or the other thing.

I think you missed the idea of why everyone that asks for it to be removed does so also lol, it's not because we like or don't like it, it's because we're tired of telling people to stop switching between the 2 when they assume they should be able to. I for one have had to say that at least a half dozen times or so over the past month for people posting that they are having trouble because their code keeps changing on them or they can't get it to position it correctly. This is because they are swapping back and forth and aren't aware they cannot "productively" do this. Hasn't got anything to do with how good or bad it works

For what it's worth, I have the Web developer loaded here, and it is working nicely. And I have the latest FF running, even with the 'personas'. - And I haven't even donated...
