Page in preview less wide than in...

When I view the page I'm working on in "Test in Browser" ( both FF and IE), the page displays wider than in the preview screen. The way I can tell is the horizontal navigation items are displayed on 2 lines in the CC preview window and only one line( which is what I want) in the "test in browser". Is there a way I can set the preview to display the same as in the browsers?

Thanks

You need to update to the newest version, which is 12.5 build 412 (I think). Remember updates don't cost anything once you have bought the prog.

Also, if you posted a link to your site we could take a look at the problem and be able to give better advice.

I downloaded the latest CC (v12 build412) but the same problem is there. Here is the page ( still under heavy construction!)... http://paperandclay.com/home-020512.html

I grabbed your source code and see your issue. The Contact link in the menu drops underneath the rest of the menu in CC preview. Inger do you get the same results?

The contact link drops under the rest of the menu only in the CC preview window. It looks fine to me in FF and IE. Do you get the same results? If so, why does it drop only in the CC preview and how can I get the preview to look like FF and IE?

Thanks

Someone moved this post without notice while I was typing my reply. I hope 'pk' was informed.

I had the menu on 1 line in Ffx, IE and Editor preview. But on 2 lines in Safari, Chrome and Opera.

My suggestion is making the space for the menu a wee bit wider, as below:
#topnavbox {border: thin dashed blue;
float:right;
width:520px;
}

I set the width from 500 to 520px and got it on one line in all my 5 browsers. Actually, 516px is enough...

Thanks Inger. That seemed to do the trick. Is the CC preview window based on Safari, Chrome or Opera and is that the reason for the menu showing up on 2 lines?

Thanks again
pk

PS. Yes, CC sent me an email saying it was moved.

The preview in the Editor is based on IE. Default is IE8, but you can set it to IE9 under Tools - Preferences - Browser Testing. I don't know if that makes the difference, though.

The various browsers have their own way of rendering fonts, padding, margins etc, and the best way of having the same display is using a set of 'reset' rules in the css.

Midnight here now, so if you want further info on that, google 'Eric Meyer's reset'.
