Japanese and Chinese characters and...

I am planning on creating a website about the Japanese language. I plan on having a mix of Japanese and Chinese characters along with English on most of the pages. Does CoffeeCup HTML 2010 SE support this? I have heard that the past versions did not, but wanted to know if it does now.

Thanks for the answer.

I hope CoffeeCup decides to add support for Japanese and Chinese characters in the future. I have used the HTML Editor for other sites because it is very user friendly and very affordable.

Until then, I guess I'll have to find a WordPress theme and modify it to not look like a blog.

I found out that I can have Japanese and Chinese characters on the web pages as long as I convert the characters into decimal or hexadecimal codes and paste them into the HTML. Now the browser previews for both Firefox and Internet Explorer show the characters normally instead of the "question marks" or "boxes".

Wow nice share Melvin thanks for that, I'm sure there have been many asking for a way to do this over the past couple years alone that will be happy to see there's a way to do it :)

I found out how to do it after looking at the HTML code for About.com's Japanese language site. I noticed in the HTML that there were decimal/hexadecimal codes where the Japanese and Chinese characters were supposed to be. I then searched Google for any sites that convert the characters into the decimal/hexadecimal codes and found this one, http://code.cside.com/3rdpage/us/unicode/converter.html. I then created a test page in CoffeeCup HTML Editor using the codes and it worked.:)

I am really happy now that I can use CoffeeCup HTML Editor to build my future Japanese language website. I like playing with HTML code and creating web pages from scratch. That is why I didn't want to use blog software like WordPress.

Have you created snippets for it? Or better yet, you can alter the MarkUp pages I believe to help with this too. I haven't played with that much, but I'm sure some of that would help so you don't have to type hex or copy/paste it so much :)

This is a similar converting page I found for another thread here. It's a bit simpler in my opinion.

@Jo Ann: I haven't created snippets yet. I haven't used that feature before but may in the future. I'll be sure to check it out.

@Cary: I also found this conversion site http://www.unicodetools.com/unicode/convert-to-html.php, but I think the one you suggested is the simplest to use.

when converting the characters into the decimal/hexadecimal codes will that adversely affect search engine results?
