Hi Cary/Scott
Thanks Cary for your note I am over the pond and some 5 hours plus ahead of you so did not pick up till this morning 10:00am UK time. I wish I had looked in last night. It seems we have come to the same conclusion..
I burnt a bit of midnight oil last night checking why IE does not work yet Firefox and Chrome works. I came to the same conclusion as you Cary IE seems to demand a doctype whereas firefox and Crome is more tolerant.
I ran the following tests.
1. Created a test menu with subitems and siblings in CSS menu editor.
2. Selected preview tab which loaded my default browser IE7
3 Checked it did not display sub items and siblings.
4 Selected view source and copied the source.
5 Opened a new html page in editor 209 build 304 and removed all the default coding thus leaving a blank page.
6 Copied the CSS menu previe code into the bank edior page.
7 Here I noted as you say Cary there was no doctype statement.
8 I ran preview tests in browsers IE, Chrome and Firefox. Chrome & Firefox displayed subitems & siblings IE did not.
9 I then inserted a doctype statement in line 1 and ran preview tests in the 3 browers. All 3 browsers including IE displayed subitems and siblings.
Scott it would seem that inserting a doctype in line 1 of the CSS menu preview coding would correct this problem. But hey I am no expert but leave this for you to evaluate.
