Where does coffeecup store the file where you set your own preference for highlight colors in HTML editor?
I have searched the files stored in the CoffeeCup directory but can not seem to find the correct file.
I hate to keep having to set my own colors over and over.
Thanks,
Linda

Linda,
I think you are referring to the setting of preferences. Tools | Preferences | Customization | Highlighting should get you to the settings.
If this is what you are doing and it is not saving, you should open a support ticket with CoffeeCup.

Hi Bill,
Yes I am on the latest version ... it is a Tools | Preferences | Customization
Modify Highlighting
I can easily modify that file and ususaly do when I start with a new version.
Those prefrences must be stored somewhere so that I do not have to re-do them with each upgrade.
I am looking for the core file that has been changed in my last version to move it to this latest version.
Sorry I did not make that more clear
Thanks,
Linda

Linda,
Is this a problem that occurs frequently, or just after an upgrade?
I think Scott has stated that this is normal for an upgrade.
Once you have the preferences set, you should not have to change them until you do the next program update.

Hi Bill,
It is normal upon upgrade to have to re-do the highlight prefrences.
When these prefrences are made there must be a file somewhere that stores them in the core program.
That is what I am looking for so on upgrade I can simply save/move that one file from the old program to the new one like I do my favorite snippets.

There is a file called colors.dat in the main program folder. When I tried altering the colors, then checked the modified files in that directory, the colors.dat file was changed at that time. I thought I was onto it but renaming that file didn't change anything in the colors preferences (I assumed it would go back to defaults) and the file was recreated on exiting the software. It must be stored somewhere, but it isn't in any other file I can find (by searching by date modified) and it isn't in the registry. The colors.dat is the best candidate but in my experiments it didn't make any difference what I did with it. Weird.

Hi Dave,
Thanks!
Yes I tried all of those files also with no success.
I had hoped maybe someone would have an answer.
It has to be stored somewhere but nothing I can come up with.
Maybe I need to open a support ticked

If you do a ticket Linda, please post the answer so the rest of us know too if it's possible to save that type of setting. I've been watching this thread to see what the answer was too lol.
Hi All,
According to the programmers there is no file that stores these settings ... it is just part of the program.
That does not make much sense to me since something has to tell the program what the new settings are and the information is stored somewhere.
For now apparently there is no file.

Hi Scott
Just been reading through these messages.
Is it possible to look into a future modification for preferences to be stored somewhere so that they are not lost when loading any html editor updates.
It is annoying haa
