Newbie Question Alert
Is it OK to use htm instead of html?

AVG Secure Search didn't throw up any warnings about the site ...wonder why PC Tools put it on a banned list? Jo Ann, does it give you any info?

No it didn't, would be nice if they actually did something like that wouldn't it? Doesn't tell me anything at all about "why" only that it's on their banned list of sites.

Framkie you might want to contact PC Tools and ask them why it's on their banned list. I would imagine there is a reason, but it may have nothing to do with your actual site, maybe the server itself is on it or who knows. Best to ask them though as I'm sure I won't be the first or the last to get that message and you sure don't want visitors being sent away if it's not true.

You can contact them on their site somewhere I'm sure, http://pctools.com

Yes, Jo Ann, thank you for that.

In the mean time I have also raised a support ticket with my hosting provider.

Nice thinking there too, good luck on it and if they need the message feel free to share that image with them.

I think my problem is only one of Frankie's; that is, I think he has a combination of several problems including one that's the same as mine. That "shared" problem is the HTML Editor not rendering a page in split-screen mode in the same way that IE and Firefox render it.

My pages are admittedly very complex (I won't take credit for that; I inherited a lot of machine-generated HTML), but IE and Firefox display them very quickly and very nicely. HTML Editor seems to get confused about where things belong on the page and even what size the characters should be. Feel free to borrow any pages you find at http://www.allenareapatriots.org to demonstrate the problem.

Incidentally, I've noticed another anomaly that may be related to this problem: when opening a page for the first time, HTML Editor frequently inserts a question mark before the HTML code. If that question mark is allowed to remain, IE and Firefox display the page but make a mess of it. Simply removing that question mark straightens them out. Could there be something internal (that doesn't show up on the editor window) along these lines?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
