I can not download content from my web site to my computer using the built-in FTP software. The file names show up but the file size is 0 KB. Upload works fine. I had the same problem with HTML Editor 2008. Do I have to buy Direct FTP to get the download function?

No, the built in FTP client is basically a lite version of DirectFTP; it should provide all the functionality you need. Are you able to browse the remote site at all, that is, change from folder to folder and see the contents there? If you can upload, that means the server details are OK, so there is no logical reason why you can't download. When you grab a file from the server and drop it into the loacl folder, does anything transfer at all?

You could try downloading and trying DirectFTP but given the similarity in coding it may do the same thing. Give something like FileZilla a go, it is a freeware FTP client (Google the name to find it). If it works with that then it is something to do with CC's software; if not, then it is something quirky with your host/server/machine setup.

If you like, email me with your server details and I can check to see what is going on, though I understand if you don't want to as you don't know me from a bar of soap.

So everyone else can use the Coffee Cup Free Stand Alone Client to Upload and Download files just fine? Very Strange. I guess I'll try downloading their Free FTP program and test.

I can connect to my FTP site, open folders, and upload files just fine. I just can not download any file. The file name shows up but the file size is 0 KB. Doesn't make any sense. While in HTML Editor on the Server tab I can right-click a file and download it that way.

I just wanted to add: make sure you have correct permissions set (contact your host) and that you are in the right directory. Sometimes the folder/file structure can be similar but not where your actual files are housed.

Hi Ernie,
When do you get the error. Before it tries to upload or during?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.
