cursor stays busy throughout session
The last couple of builds keep my cursor active. In my case that makes it a spinning circle that makes navigation difficult. No other program causes this. I have changed computers which changed the OS from XP to 7 and still the cursor spins in the HTML editor.
CC is testing a new version that should address some of these issues.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Interesting.....
I sometimes get this in the HTML Editor, but more often I have a system popup
notification about CPU usage, the editor being the cause of its being triggered,
Its sky high...

I'm running Vista 64 and have the same problem.
On my system, I first noticed that "busy" icon with open File Explorer windows.
Here's the solution for both problems:
Open Task Manager
Click the Services tab.
Click the Services button (at the bottom of the dialog box)
Scroll down to Shell Hardware Detection
Restart the service
Click Yes to restart the WIA dependent service
Hope this helps!
Thanks codeDawg, that works. I wonder how often it will need doing.
Yes,
Thankyou for this.
I have followed your instructions and have a question if I may....
This problem isn't as prevalent for me as it is for others, but could you say
what's been done in there, as a specific program was not targeted and it seems to be
a global setting.
Is this a permanent thing or do you think it may reappear...
Just out of interest really

@Duane, @Peter
You're Welcome!
I have to follow those steps, first thing, after every system restart.
Here's what I know. Short version, not much

I have no idea how or why this works. I bought my Vista box 2 years ago and noticed the busy icon on open Windows Explorer windows. I work a lot from Windows Explorer and that situation was intolerable. No help on the web and relatively few complaints about it. (I guess most folks don't use Windows Explorer.) So, it took me all weekend but I narrowed it all down to that one task.
Just yesterday, I was following a tutorial using CC HTML Editor. Something froze up my system and I had to do a hard reboot. Anxious to get back to where I was in the code, I went straight to the CC Editor and that's when I noticed the busy icon (for the first time outside of a Windows Explorer window).
I realized that I had forgotten to do the service restart thing, did it, and CC stopped displaying the busy icon. All of this reminded me of a similar complaint I read on the CC forums (this thread). So I posted up the workaround.
I really don't think it's a CC problem. This is a Windows problem. If the programmers at CC are using the "wrong" Windows libraries, their applications will "inherit" the Windows busy icon problem.
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
