Code Completion Confusion

I may be confused about the Code Completion option. But, here it is, I have the impression (courtesy of a helpful member hereabouts) that if I had the 'Code Completion' option set in the Options then if I typed '<p>' then the editor would automatically supply me with a '</p>' tag so that I wouldn't have to enter it.

The thing is is that I can't get this to work. Is there something that I am missing?

The code completion will work for you if you select your tag from the popup menu that shows up when you start typing a tag. In other words when you type

<p
select the <p> from the list (the more you type the closer to the top of the list your needed tag will show up)

Once you do this the program will automatically enter the closing tag for you. It will not do so if you type the entire tag yourself without choosing from the menu.

Hope that helps :)

Oh right, thanks. I was just blindly typing the three characters and hoping that when I hit the third character, the closing of the tag, that the second tag would appear.

I've tried what you suggest but find it clumsy (for me) to use as I find that I have the cursor within the closing bracket and not outside of it and also if I am typing away at speed then I tend to sit over the keyboard and not flip out to the tab keys.

Thanks ever so much.

You're quite welcome, I made the same mistakes as you did and it took me a bit to understand how that all worked too so no worries.

I too find it clumsy a bit to be honest and yes I don't like how the cursor ends up inside the tag instead of between them, so I end up just typing them myself. Some of the other editors add the tags in automatically as soon as you hit the enter key and your cursor is placed in between them automatically. I'm hoping this program will adapt that at some point, but then I never really suggested it either so I guess I can't complain on it too much hehe.

You might want to make that suggestion yourself and I'll be happy to follow you up with it :)
