Adding a new page wants to overwrite...
Hello. I bought and am trying to use the CC Editor but seems we have a fundamental disconnect. I'm accustomed to working from a Linux command line all day so may be I'm overthinking something that's really simple. Be that as it may, I can't seem to figure out how, in CC Editor, to simply add a new page based on a theme without it wanting to overwrite my existing index.html file.
1. I a created a project and based it on one of the built-in themes.
2. After modifying it with just my basic info I go to file -> new from theme, pick either another theme or even the same one as the existing page, and then tell CC to add it to the current project... at which point it prompts me to overwrite the existing index.html with no option to just use another name.
3. I don't want to overwrite anything, I just want to ADD a new themed page to the existing project -- It's gotta be simple... what am I missing?
Thanks

All the themes are hard-coded to build a basic file structure and it will automatically generate those pages. There is no way to create just a single page based on a theme and call it a different name. To do that you would need to setup a different Website Project and then copy the pages from there to your existing project.

Hi Scott. Thanks. So, a CC Editor "poject" is a single page? Am I missing something or does that seem a bit of a counter-intuitive definition of "project"?
I can easily just make a themed index.html and then copy it myself to whatever other file names I want, but then I lose the centralized "project" management I'm looking for to keep multiple pages consistent.
So, Is there a way in CC Editor to have a multi-page "project", and manage the general look and feel of those pages from within CC? That's all I'm really trying to do here -- Surely I'm not the first person to need more than one page in their "project"?
Thanks.

A project is an entire website (all the html pages, images etc). When you make a new project based on a theme, it will create the entire file structure and pages needed to run that project. If you already have an existing project, you cannot use a new theme and merge it into your project as it will overwrite the files in there.

Scott, thanks for trying to help but I think we're not connecting. I've read those instructions already and they didn't answer my question. I'll ask this as simply as I know how to ask.
I created a "project" with a theme. How do I, from within CC, add new pages to that "project" and apply that same theme consistently to the new pages?
I can do it manually, but I'd think "project" would imply CC would help me out here. Am I wrong, or are you in fact telling me, when using the CC editor, that I have to manage every single new page within my site as a separate folder and as a separate "project"?
Thanks.

You can't.

Ah, sure, the old "save as...". Not quite the "project" integration I was hoping for but I can work with it.
See, I knew it'd be simple -- I just spend way too much time with "vi" and she's jealous that I'd consider another editor.
Thanks.

I never could get used to VI. Pico is far better.

LOL, I learned vi because I knew I'd find it on just about every *nix I'd come across. Pico (and nano) were on some but not others so I opted for vi as the "sure thing". I love vi but I type so much code each day my fingers hurt and I'm starting to look at tools to save me some keystrokes -- was hoping CC Editor projects could help with that -- at least it can help me design a basic and attractive page template. It's a start.
Thanks
