Your website critiqued here using VSD
Can someone let me know how my website looks on your computer. It looks fine and 'just right' to me when I test it on my computer using browsers IE (my regular browser), FF, and Opera, but I've been told there is some overlapping of text/links and I've seen how bad it looks when I view my website on my sis' computer.
I hope other ppl will post their websites as well and we can use this thread for input from other users. Be sure to put in all the suggested information below. I copied/pasted from another thread.
1. URL to your Website (MOST IMPORTANT ITEM)
2. Operating System you are using
3. Include program name (application) in the subject title.***
4. Version of the application
5. Are you using the trial or registered version
6. What specific steps have you taken to create this issue?
7. Does it occur every time?
8. Can you recreate this on another computer?

Issue: overlapping of text/links when viewd on other computers, but not mine, tested on IE, FF, Opera and everything looks good on my end
Question: can you tell me how it looks on your computer?
1. www.traceemurphy.com
2. Windows XP
3. VSD
4. VSD 5.8.5
5. registered version
6. tried to correct this issue by changing all fonts to arial or times new roman except for the Watercolor Art by Tracee Murphy

You may want to upgrade to the latest version of VSD (5.9.4) and try using the new version for your page. One of the things CoffeeCup improved in VSD was cross browser consistency in the display.
how do i get the upgrade? do i have to purchase it again? i just did that with 5.8.5 earlier this year for the same reason i'm having issues now.
i thought this last upgrade i did was suppose to correct this issue?
when i upgrade i won't have to redo my website, will i?

When you purchased the program, you got free upgrades. Just go to http://www.coffeecup.com/help/ and log in. The top link on the page will be a link to upgrade any program you have purchased.

You may be correct. I seldom use VSD, so I don't know what each upgrade has done.

I would expect you would need to load your .vnu file and then save. That should update your code. Then upload, and see if the problem is corrected.
thansk for your help. i already answered some of my own questions not knowing i already had a response.
i aborted the upgrade b/c it asked me if i wanted to uninstall vsd, and i didn't know if i should click yes or no as i would hate to lose the website i already created.
i'm asssuming i should have clicked yes, but again for fear of losing the website i aborted until i work on this and make sure i don't do that.

Just save the contents of the 'working' folder, if you use the default, to somewhere else on your machine before you start the uninstall/reinstall process. Then you can put the contents back afterwards.

If you click here http://browsershots.org you can get a screenshot in all the browsers you choose, just enter your domain.
thanks i looked at it and now i see all the problems everyone else sees when not viewed with the same browser and version as myself.
so now what? how do i design my website so that it looks the same in all browsers? i realize there will be some differences, but as far as the overall look and feel i'm going for.
