Right now we do not have any immediate plans to implement sFTP into the software. That could change at a later date, but I don't want to give you any false hope. ;)

VSD does not support it direct. But you can export your VSD site then upload using CoffeeCup's Direct FTP.

There has been another thread about this, got a bit heated ;)

Have you considered transfering your website to your FREE CC hosting account you got with your copy of VSD

I am guessing yahoo are going to lose a lot of clients, theres cheaper hosting around who are offering either FTP or an option of either.

£25.00 per year for unlimited everything seem to be about the norm for 5 years paid in advance

It's time to hit them back and give them the switch.

I've been with Yahoo for many years, but I'm making plans for when my renewal comes up. :D
Other full-featured hosting plans are available for 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of Yahoo. ;)

CC Sdrive provides 3 sites (and one-click uploading from several CC programs) for half the cost of one Yahoo site ;)

I've used Coffeecup Software for years because I thought it was a great company with a simple, honest concept, but now I have doubts about your company's integrity Scott. Before you guys fell in love with the S-Drive concept you sought for compatibility with most web hosts. Now that you guys are invested in S-Drive and yahoo has decided to make their ftp more secure, the option you are offering with VSD is to switch over to a PAID S-Drive account for those who already have a domain? Shame on you. If Direct FTP can put use ftps then it cannot be that complicated to allow the same protocols for VSD. You would just not be able to nickle and dime consumers for services that should be free.

People who use VSD are usually novice consumers who want things a simple and easy as possible. You are exploiting this beyond what is reasonable. The main complaint about coffeecup software is that you charge for separate functions that come as a package with many other softwares. You have taken this next level in an effort to funnel everyone over to S-Drive. I'm just shaking my head now, because what your company is doing is deplorable. You are trying to take away the option of using the web host of choice.

Hiya Dawn,

Although I agree with some things you say, I will definitely not agree that CC is taking away your choices at all. Yahoo is the ONLY (read up above if you're not sure what is going on here) ONLY ONLY ONLY hosting company that has made that change a mandatory change. This means that YAHOO IS THE ONE that took away your choice, not CC. If you're going to complain about something, at least look at it in the right light. Now if CC refused and a good portion of hosting companies were making it mandatory, then yes they would be hindering your ability to use your own server. But in this case....

Tell Yahoo to take a flying leap and go with a host that doesn't demand outrageous expectations of their users. You don't HAVE to go to S-Drive, and of course CC is going to tell you to do that, that's part of their bread and butter (and it gets on my nerves too so no worries there lol). You can go with any other host you want, but get away from Yahoo who is the one telling you you cannot use whatever you want, and they are the ONLY host doing so.

Yahoo pulls the rug out from under you and you throw CC under the bus.:( That's like blaming Pepsi for the New Coke incident. Plenty of choices for hosts out there that would be happy to have your business.:)

How can giving VSD FREE hosting be exploitation ?

my wedding car site in signature is on another cc users own cc account, all he has ever paid for is a licenced copy of VSD, its hosted FREE on sdrive

However my other 8 sites are all hosted on one hosting account with a company supplying unlimited everything for £25.00 per year

dump yahoo

You should be directing your frustration at Yahoo here Dawn and not us. Yahoo is the one that made this decision and forced sFTP on all their customers. As pointed out here a few times, they are the only hosting provider that I know that makes this mandatory to connect to their server.

If more hosting providers required this, we would certainly include it in our software. We just see no need to add something simply to make it work for a single hosting company (no matter who they are).

So you have choices:

1. You can upload manually with any FTP client.
2. Switch to a better hosting company that offers you flexibility.
3. Use S-Drive.

I'm just shaking my head now, because what your company is doing is deplorable.

We did not do anything. Yahoo is the one who made this choice. How can we be deplorable for the actions of someone else?

You are trying to take away the option of using the web host of choice.

Yahoo took the choice away from you by forcing sFTP on their customers. You can use any hosting provider you want. We do not prevent you at all. Yahoo made a choice to restrict how their customers connect to their servers. If I were you, I would show my disapprovement by no longer supporting a company like them and switch to another hosting provider that give you greater flexibility. There are tons of them out there.
