Has there been any change to whether or not VSD will support FTPS? I just got hit with the Yahoo switch.
Right now we do not have any immediate plans to implement sFTP into the software. That could change at a later date, but I don't want to give you any false hope.

I've used Coffeecup Software for years because I thought it was a great company with a simple, honest concept, but now I have doubts about your company's integrity Scott. Before you guys fell in love with the S-Drive concept you sought for compatibility with most web hosts. Now that you guys are invested in S-Drive and yahoo has decided to make their ftp more secure, the option you are offering with VSD is to switch over to a PAID S-Drive account for those who already have a domain? Shame on you. If Direct FTP can put use ftps then it cannot be that complicated to allow the same protocols for VSD. You would just not be able to nickle and dime consumers for services that should be free.
People who use VSD are usually novice consumers who want things a simple and easy as possible. You are exploiting this beyond what is reasonable. The main complaint about coffeecup software is that you charge for separate functions that come as a package with many other softwares. You have taken this next level in an effort to funnel everyone over to S-Drive. I'm just shaking my head now, because what your company is doing is deplorable. You are trying to take away the option of using the web host of choice.
You should be directing your frustration at Yahoo here Dawn and not us. Yahoo is the one that made this decision and
forced sFTP on all their customers. As pointed out here a few times, they are the only hosting provider that I know that makes this mandatory to connect to their server.
If more hosting providers required this, we would certainly include it in our software. We just see no need to add something simply to make it work for a single hosting company (no matter who they are).
So you have choices:
1. You can upload manually with any FTP client.
2. Switch to a better hosting company that offers you flexibility.
3. Use S-Drive.
I'm just shaking my head now, because what your company is doing is deplorable.
We did not do anything. Yahoo is the one who made this choice. How can we be deplorable for the actions of someone else?
You are trying to take away the option of using the web host of choice.
Yahoo took the choice away from you by forcing sFTP on their customers. You can use any hosting provider you want. We do not prevent you at all. Yahoo made a choice to restrict how their customers connect to their servers. If I were you, I would show my disapprovement by no longer supporting a company like them and switch to another hosting provider that give you greater flexibility. There are tons of them out there.
