I notice that some items created in VSD are saved to the root folder, others are saved to a folder called xxxsite.
My questions are:
a does it matter?
and
b which folder should stuff be in?

Yes, it matters very much!
The files are placed in folders by VSD in such a way that files (e.g. images, Flash elements, etc..) will be found, where they are referenced by the HTML code to be.
You should not move files to other folders unless you know exactly what you are doing!

Hi David,
just to add a bit to Per's post if I may, the files folder will hold all the images in your website, if you have linked to a document on your local drive, then inside your files folder you'll have another folder inside called Documents.
In your website folder (outside the fies folder) should be any flash you use, your html pages & gallery files and folders- basically anything else YOU add...

You may indeed, since I only gave a partial answer!

- the added substance is most welcome, for my benefit too!
BTW, that cat shares at least some bad habit with me, - and I don't mean playing the harmonica...

Me to Per!

Ah the dreaded foot tapping!

I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.
Bruzer, I think you just answered a question that I have been searching for in the Forums:rolleyes:
but would appreciate your info on this.
I want to link to a document (a pdf file) and hopefully it will pop up and then it can be saved or printed.
My question was this:
My document is on my computer but do I need to move it into VSD before I link to it? or will a copy of it be moved into the right VSD folder automatically --- like with images?

Kare its better to move any files including images into your VSD project folder before linking to it. That way you get the right path and it all uploads together.

Oh no! I am working on a site and thought all the images would be put into the right folder when I used the add image button and browsed my computer.
Please don't tell me that they all have the wrong path and I need to re-add the images after moving them into the files folder!
What am I missing that I can't understand this! ;-{
