VSD6 keep losing 'links'

Using visual site designer v6, upgraded 6 June & since then have not been able to get site to function properly.
Problem lies with broken links: site contains many small photos which should
link to larger versions of themselves which used to open in a new window when the person viewing the site clicked on them - basic but straightforward
stuff!

I have painstakingly re-affirmed the link for every single picture,
but at preview stage VSD tells me that 'the following file does not exist'..

After 'save' the links are all relocated to a folder called 'download'.

coffee Cup support team say this is correct, but still the links don't work.

I have raised this with the support team again, but am impatient to sort it out now. Has anyone experience similarand, more importantly, sorted it out?

thanks

Would you happen to have a link to your website so we can view it here in the forums? would be easier.
As a note anytime you link an image or document to your hard drive, VSd will or should place a copy of that item in the downloads folder otherwise it would be in the files folder. Is this how you linked your images ?

Thanks,

yes, this is what happens - the 'downloads' folder contains a copy if each image required, but the results can be seen here;
www.arosasigns.com
try clicking on each of the small 'thumbnail' shots - they don't load.

HI,
I see what you mean! Sorry for that. I noticed you don't have the current version , I think was fixed in this version so it may fix it for you. Just install the upgrade over the current version your using selecting yes all the way though it. and then let's see if this takes care of your problem. what do you say? :)

I thought I had the latest version of VSD (downloaded June 09)?

But the good news is that it is fixed! All the images were indeed in the 'download' folder (that the prog makes, automatically) but I had to manually re-point to each one within this 'download' folder.

also,, before this step i deleted all the duplicated contents of 'download'
which were sitting alongside 'download' within the folder VSD calls 'files'.

After VSD allowed me to 'save' the site I was then able to upload it again.

I noticed that VSD then duplicates all those pics in 'download' and places them
alongside in the folder called 'files' (again!)

Hope I don't have to go through this shenanigans again for a future update!

The earlier version of VSD was easy. It had an 'export' command.

So, rather a lengthy post, but I thought it might be useful for someone, however maybe I'm the only one who got it muddled!

thanks for reading.

OK, I installed the newer version which goes ahead & converts the existing website files to the new.

I then opened the website & lo & behold the same message displays,
saying the file is missing! I couldn't bear the thought of hours of work
repeating the process described in my last post so i uninstalled the new version & re-installed the older version.

Luckily (or so I thought) I had stored all the older files on a usb. However, when I open the site & opt for 'preview' the same problem is repeating - the links are missing! (thought they are still in the same place, right where I left them before!)

Looks like I will have to manually point to each link all over again!

This is upsetting! Am I going wrong somewhere or is this a real glitch?
I've attached a screen shot of the 'missing files' message.

(the rest of the address on the screenshot points to \download\pic1etc)

i can hardly belive my bad luck here!

Thanks
