16 existing websites, using built in FTP to a well established server (IX).
Okay, this is driving me nuts.
If I call up my existing websites and publish them everything works fine.
If I create any new website this is what happens.
I can save the website locally on my computer (and call it up again later)
BUT-
When I try to publish it to the server, VSD crashes. I get to the point of
selecting my publishing destination, the program seems to connect to
the Internet while “Fetching publishing destinations” and then craps out
giving me a less than useful error message.
It does this whether I start a website from scratch (with one sentence of text)
or from a theme. It will not let me publish a new website, not even to one of
my existing FTP setups (doesn’t get beyond “the fetching bit”).
I have done all the usual things:
Deleted VSD and reloaded it, downloaded another copy of VSD from the Cup
and loaded that.
Deleted all my themes and re-installed them
Run Ccleaner
Checked for viruses, etc. (none)
Tried creating a new FTP connection setup and tested it, before starting
a new website (that worked fine).
Turned off the computer and repeated all of the above “fixes” to zero success.
Since VSD seems to be going to the Internet while “Fetching, then barfing”
I can only assume Coffee Cup has a pigeon hole with my name on it somewhere
that contains my publishing destinations rather than having them stored
locally on my computer – which gives me the “big brother” feeling.
So is there suddenly an upper limit to the number of websites I can
create? Is my destination pigeon hole corrupted? Is this a weird VSD bug?
Is this a plot to make us all use S-Drive? Is this Scott’s revenge for not
looking for his Easter Eggs (because I had already bought all of the software).
Somebody please pass me a clue.
