VSD will not open and crashes on...

So I sent my file to Support at their request and they verified that it is corrupt and non-recoverable.

I still have no idea why the file got corrupt. I have to be honest, I am gun shy at spending another 10 or 15 hours re-creating what I did previously with the distinct possibility that my file will corrupt again.

Does anyone use VSD for a large, multi-page, media rich web page? Is there some sort of understanding the VSD will only put very simple pages together reliably that I do not know about? Is there a hard limit or stability-dangerous limit on page size? Like, if I want to make a 5000 pixel tall page, is there a problem that I do not know about?

Right now, I do not have any alternative. I guess I have to try to rebuild in VSD if I want video or audio on the site. UGH. Very frustrating, esp since I do not know WHY the VSD file corrupted.

My VSD was working fine. I followed suggestion of checking ppi for each image. I didn't add any new images in between VSD working fine and VSD crashing on launch. I am still investigating, but I understand the frustration.

"UAC enabled in Vista."

How can we shut that annoying thing off?

Only I use my PC at home for work and home, so is it safe, or can some hacker do things remotely with it off, that he/she could not do with it on?

If it should be on ,and is only an issue with VSD, are you kind folks working on a fix?

I ask because my VSD has been working only when I download it, use it a bit, then stops opening and I get a Windows message about it not being able to open.

I tried to open the shortcut as an Admin and it opened, so I am guessing the above is the issue, no?

But why does it initally work then stop?

Thanks :)

That's a good question why it works at first run and crashes any time following. Some people will say disabling UAC basically puts you back to an XP security level. Well, I never had a problem with XP, so it doesn't really concern me. Anyway, here's a link with multiple ways to disable UAC:

If I might just make a small point....... following recent problems of my own for a non CC related program, I discovered that my anti-virus software update has now created a "learning tool" which will only allow full use of certain programs and applications when it sees (learns) that the computer admin uses it regularly.

This has meant that certain things that I was doing quite freely on MY computer have now become "off-limits" until the anti-virus software is happy about it.

Could your own anti-virus software be interfering in any way with what has been the normal functioning of your computer up until recently? Do you allow the automatic installation of updates that you might have overlooked in your investigations into the problem? I know it is a long shot, but under the circumstances it might be worth looking into as a possible influence on the VSD functions, particularly in view of the fact that other people are managing to use the software satisfactorily.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
