Help please!
I had VSD loaded on my laptop (6 months old running Win 7) and it worked fine. I created and uploaded my website and everything was great. However, when I tried to open the program today it would not open, so I downloaded another copy of VSD (version 7 build 22). It detected a previous version and removed it from my computer. However, all the new version will do is display the splash screen for a few seconds then nothing more.
It will not load the actual software. I have tried restarting my computer, re-downloading my paid version. I even tried downloading the free version to see if that would work and nothing happens.
please help.

Jeffrey - try right-clicking the VSD icon and then choose 'run as administrator'.
If that works, there's more info about it in the forums here... will look for a link. Let us know!

On the same subject. I have been using VSD for years. I just lost my backup hard drive as I was going to install on my new computer. I have to start over with my website but now I can't get VSD to run. It's not even located on my Control Panel to uninstall and try again with a reinstall. Any suggestions. When I click on the desktop icon. I am prompted to "Check online for a solution and close the program" or just "close the program". I have done both and no matter what I can't start VSD.

We first recommend that you download the latest version of Visual Site Designer from our website dated April 19th, 2011. If you are still having problems with this version, please see the steps below.
This can happen even if you are running as an Administrator, and it is caused by Windows very strict security settings.
To fix this, right-click your Visual Site Designer shortcut icon and select Run as Administrator. This should properly launch Visual Site Designer for you. If it does, great! You can continue to launch the program in this way, or you can go a step further and configure the shortcut to always run as administrator. Here's how:
1. Right-click the shortcut icon, and click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Here, put a check mark by Run This Program as an Administrator.
4. Next, put a check mark next to Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For: and ensure Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 is selected.
5. Click OK.
If you continue having problems you may also need to set the application as an exception to Windows Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature. Normally if this is the culprit, you'll get a little bubble along the taskbar notifying you, which will allow you to set the offender as an exception.
One last option that could be the cause of this, and related to the DEP feature, is User Account Controls. This is the large window that appears in Vista asking you to "Allow" or "Deny" access to functions within programs. You can turn this off within your Control Panel > User Accounts window, along the left-hand pane.
All three options let you control your system exactly how you want and give you full access to do/run anything on the computer.

Scott - is the above info posted as a 'sticky' anywhere? I know you've posted it several times, but doing a search didn't turn it up.

I'm still not able to get VSD running again. I right-click my VSD shortcut and select run as administrator. I imediately get "Visual Site Desiner Application has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. Check online for a solution and clost the program or close the program." This is how it ends every time.
I had already used the property settings Scott mentioned as I found them in another post. I try not to post until I've tried what I think is every possible solution already presented.
I have downloaded the very latest version several times and uninstalled, reinstalled... I get nothing. I have a website in dire need of updating but I've always used CoffeeCup VSD to access and update it.
Help please
