Hello,

I have a Problem. My Website is newver than my folder on the HDD. Now I downloaded My website completely and I would like to update the files that VSD uses. But I cant find them. They are certanly not in the wesite_vnu directory besides the .vnu file as if I copy the files there, then still the old files are opened.

Please help me

Thanks

Peter,

Two things to remember:
One is that the latest versions of VSD store files in a folder named as you named the website, so any files created with VSD will be in the sitename_website folder. VSD will just upload the files in this folder.

Two is that you cannot download files for VSD. VSD does not import HTML files, so you need to always use VSD or always manually update VSD for any manual changes you make using another program.

I hope you can find that your "???????_website" folder has teh files you need.

The file you really need is the .vnu file. If you have lost it, then you will unfortunately have to re-create your Website again.

Thanks for the repsonses. Ok first of all I did not touch the uploaded files with something else than VSD and I still have the vnu file.
Why I did the modifications in another file location was that again the upload of files did not work correctly. VSD seems to send a keepalive NOOP command and that blocks communication with my providers ftp server. (with total commander I can flawlessly upload the files but I have to turn off the keepalive command and set it to passive mode) Maybe this is the answer to the many posts about the bad upload behaviour when VSD is hanging.

So if I copy the updated files (VSD) to the directory that is named like the vnu file, and I open the vnu with VSD I can still see the old files. How is this possible?

A feature request would be that VSD recognizes pictures as the same. I have about 50 pics on my site that are seen on about 80 Pages. Uploading gets longer and longer as with each Modification new pictures are generated. I have about 3500 pictures in my files folder now. There for sure is a solution to detect the same picture and save it only once.

best wishes Peter
