VSD "VSD has stopped working/windows...

I have the registered version of VSD, using Vista Ultimate.

I haven't been able to get VSD to open today at all...I click on the icon and immediately get the subject error, never even gets to the splash screen that says "registered version". In the last 2 weeks I have twice uninstalled and reinstalled VSD software for the same reason.....whatever the issue is doesn't seem to stay fixed. Computer has been re-booted a number of times with no solution.

AVG Pro antivirus software up to date, and windows maintenance run every night: cleanup/defrag/spyware/full system AV scan.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

No, I have UAC disabled....did that within 10 minutes of opening the box the computer came in....LOL...annoying little bugger, isn't it?

But I did find something that said to run VSD as administrator, and that at least got VSD to open. So now I can get into VSD, but for some reason, many of the graphics are altered (backgrounds have disappeared, etc....)...so off to do some tweaking. But at least I can get into it now.

Thanks for the idea! :)

Well, if all the things are discombobulated looking, you may want to adjust your DPI! You can do this by going to the Control Panel and searching for Adjust Font Size (in the upper right hand corner)-- click the link that comes up, and you can set it to 96 (the normal size, which VSD was designed for) there.

I am having the exact same problem VSD opened a few times when i first installed it on my laptop which has Vista Home Premium. Now I get the VSD has stopped working message, the program works fine on my PC that is running XP. I need to beable to run this program on my laptop so i hope there is a fix soon.

Has anyone figured out what the solution is? I also am having this problem and have to reinstall each time to be able to use the software which is a pain. It doesn't happen with any of the other cc software I've used so far just visual designer which is the one I want to use the most of course.

Angie,

Have you tried running VSD as administrator? Let us know what you have tried.

Some have reported that they only have to do that one time, but it may be that you need to be administrator to run the program.

I run as the admin. all the time as this is my main computer. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it about 4 times now. I uninstall then reinstall and program seems to work fine but the minute I close the program and try to reopen I get the error message and the program won't run.

They mean to right-click on the shortcut and choose from the menu "Run as Administrator." For some reason unknown to me, being an administrator still doesn't run some apps as one. I had that problem as well with Vista Business until disabling UAC.

OK, didn't know you could do that. Sorry- have only had this vista for a couple of weeks. Really didn't want it but couldn't get the xp anymore on the system I wanted.
That worked though, Thanks!
