Does anyone know why I am constantly getting an "Out of Memory" message?
I was told through an email that the problem was a corrupted image. At the time I had very few pictures on my website (which is only about 4 pages right now due to the fact that I keep getting this message and trying to build it is taking way too long).
So, I removed my pictures and still had the problem. So, just to see if it would help - I removed all of the larger objects from my pages. This seemed to help for a while, but then the problem started again.
Last night it was doing this, but only every other time that you tried to preview or save a page. It was literally every other time. So, I thought maybe it was just a glitch that they said they would have fixed for version 6. So, it is not even consistent so I can figure out what might be causing it.
Then it dawned on me today that I had a small photo at the top of my page that was slightly large and I had made it smaller using the VSD program. So, I removed this photo as well - made it smaller with another program, compressed it and put it back. Once again things seemed to be working.
So, tonight I decided that I wanted to work on the website again - thinking I had finally figured out the program when - you guessed it - Out of memory again!!!!!!!
What is the problem? I wish this had started the day before I bought the program instead of the DAY that I bought it. I have wasted so much time trying to figure this out.
Also, in the email that I received - they said that they had figured this problem out and have fixed it for version 6. So, then why are they making it sound like it is a problem I am causing when they also say they have "fixed it". If it truly is fixed - when is version 6 coming out???? Personally, it seems as if this program is unusable for me at this time since everything I try to do is causing this problem.
Also - my husband uses WebEasy and we have tried building the same website on his program and it has no problems. I thought that Coffeecup looked a little easier for someone with less experience building web pages like myself - but it is starting to look like maybe I should learn it since I can't get through even one hour with this program without issues (and frustration).
If I seem like I am frustrated - it could be because I have emailed the company (who said someone would call me - give them my number and a time to call) so I did, but no one called. I keep asking them about this, but I just keep receiving emails that are not answering my questions with any real solution.
I asked about a refund and was told they don't give refunds because they have a trial period - but, I never had this problem until the VERY DAY that I purchased the program. For some reason, the trial version did not do this ( and I used it for probably 10 days prior to purchase) and, I had all the photos on there at that time (including the large one at the top) and it seemed to work fine.
Is there a limited amount of information that you can put on each page or something? I don't understand what it even means when it says "out of memory" What memory? It can't be the memory on our computer because we still have a lot left and our other WebEasy program is allowing us to save pages. It appears to be specific to VSD.
I have seen other posts where people are complaining of this problem, but no solutions seem to be given.
Sorry this is so long - but I have been trying to resolve this problem since just about the first day I bought the program and still can't work on my website and still don't feel any closer to a solution - so I wanted to give as much info as possible to hopefully get a better answer.

Hi Frustrated,
I have a couple stupid questions for you if you don't mind.
have you tried an ininstall, restart, reinstall? and is VSD installed in the default drive ? C
Amount of content has no bearing on a page.
have you tried using the ctrl+alt delete method of closing programs running in the background?
I'm sure I have more questions but wil wait for answers. thank you.

Yes, I have unistalled and reinstalled a couple of times to see if that made a difference. I also did restart after doing this.
When in the middle of having a problem, I have made sure that every other program was turned off at the time but not necessarily using the ctrl alt delete that you mentioned.
Part of my complaint is that it is not consistent and will work one minute and not work the next.
There have even been times that I closed the program for the day while it seemed to be working and as soon as I opened it the next day it would not work again (since I have been having this problem, sometimes I try to preview first thing to see if it is working).
I have read the other forum posts and tried everything that has been mentioned.
I am a little frustrated that they said they have "fixed the problem" for version 6. Does this mean they know this is a problem and there is not much I can do until version 6 comes out?
Thank you for your help. I don't mean to sound rude or anything. I am just extremely frustrated that this is a daily problem and has no consistency so it seems impossible to figure out.

This issue has been fixed in 6.0. The work around right now is to delete the page that is causing the out of memory error and manually re-create it. You should be able to tell which page it is by looking at the dialog box during the save or upload process.

Are you kidding me???? I am supposed to just discard all my hard work and redo a whole page?
I have already spent so much time deleting and re-adding portions of my site to try to fix this problem. I have only been able to transfer a few pages of my current website over the past week and I have spent hours and hours on it. When I transferred it before, it only took a few days to transfer the whole thing. I should have been done already!!!!!
I was trying to transfer to a program that I would have control of by having it saved to my computer and not an online web building program.
By the way, I went to watch and see which page it was stopping on during the save and it was never the same one and then it eventually went through so I am not even sure which page is the problem.
As I stated earlier, it is very inconsistent and so I can't figure out what is going on.
Since you say it is fixed in version 6 - can you tell me when version 6 is coming out? Can you even tell me what the "problem" is?

Also, just to be clear, when I say transfer, I am rebuilding the site. The only thing that I am doing is copying the text to insert in the text box. Everything else, such as photos, html code, etc. is being added one piece at a time.
I just didn't want you to think that I am trying to copy a whole page from one website to another.
I realize that I need to rebuild it piece by piece.

Hi Frustrated,
I had this happen too and eventually realised it was caused by images or text that I'd dragged off of the active page area into the background, but had left the handles still overlapping the active page area a bit.
Don't know if if your issue is caused by the same thing but it's worth a try to make sure images or text objects are fully on or off the page.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Hi,
Thanks for the idea. I know I don't have any text or photos that are even close to the edge. But I do have objects that I used to make my header and footer. I thought I had them on the page, but I guess they could be hanging over a pixel or two. I can check them when I get home later.

It sounds like multiple pages are some how corrupted. The only work around right at this moment is to re-create the Website. I know that is not the answer you want to hear but for now that is the only fix I can offer. The issue has been corrected in version 6.0 and we are working as fast as we can to get it released. Our plan is to have it out by mid to late December at the latest.
A temporary work around is to open your Website in our HTML Editor 2008 and make your changes there. Once version 6.0 is released you can re-open it back in VSD.

Well, I tried the idea of making sure that nothing was hanging over the edge and it seemed to make no difference at all, so I guess that was not the problem. Thanks for the idea though.
As for the other option of recreating the website - I have to let you know that I find this to be an unacceptable "solution". First of all, how do I know I won't do all that work only to have the exact same problem since I would be adding all the same information back in. I have already wasted enough time dealing with this. As far as I am concerned, the current version I have is worthless since I can't get anything to work.
I don't know why no one will tell me what the "issue" is - only that it is fixed for version 6.
So, I guess that since you already have my money, my only choice is to wait for the update and keep my fingers crossed that the problem really is fixed and I won't have this problem anymore.
I guess it doesn't hurt to ask one more time - What is the "issue"?
