If you include every function known to man in the program, you will have the bloat that is Dreamweaver - and perhaps the cost.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Tom, I really wish you wouldn't hold back, and just tell us what's on your heart. :D

Hello,
I did not mean to make this a 10+ post topic, but I hope I may say what is on my mind too :)
First I will have to apologize, english/ american is not my native tongue so maybe I sometimes misinterpretate. Please correct me.
No offense to anyone here, but there used to be a pretty common saying in the programmers circles many years ago (and maybe it's still popular): if you try to make a program idiot proof, the world will make bigger idiots. I'm not saying anyone here is an idiot, far from it, but basically the way I interpret that is: if you try to make every function known to man in the program, it still won't be good enough.

Here, I do not know what you mean. I make all my programs (which have to be certified by many QA agencies) as idiot proof as they can be. And from a QA point of view I agee. But this is totally not a point I was making.
Your second observation:
every function known to man in the program

was not what I mean either. I said:
I have run agains very basic things where most people here say 'you can do this with an HTML box'

by which I was trying to say that there could be some basic things that are easily translated to a visual kind of thing.
I tend to "play around" with VSD, more than actually "use" it, but I find that it is a good blend of Easy Button easy, and flexible/powerful (functional) with the ability to throw some code in when needed. It's been pointed out MANY times that most every issue that has stumped a user, has been swiftly dispatched with either code provided from other users here, or a google search. It doesn't take much time or talent to Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V a chunk of code in.

This is true, I have found that a lot of (most) problems that I have had, had an answer in some kind of copy-paste solution (=easy). And I wholeheartedly thank every one here. But this again is not what I mean. VSD or visual site designer 'code free' should be as code free as it can be. It should take every oppertunity to make it so.
I guess I'd have to say I'm on the bandwagon for leaving VSD pretty much as is, rather than potentially overloading it with too many bells and whistles. This doesn't mean that users shouldn't put in their requests for things, as that is the main gauge that CC has to see what is truly desired (and I think we all LOVE that about CC, that they actually take input from us into serious consideration).

I guess I will have to skip your bandwagon....
If I come to think of it, this is negative thinking of me :|, I will jump your bandwagon and try to convice you that VSD should constanly inprove. And to improve they should indeed look at user input (like mine :) )

Best Regards,

Who needs a nickname, be yourself. Well most of the time...

Hi Marc, CC takes all user input seriously and yours is welcome here any time.:) If you have any questions about implementing a piece of code feel free to post here in the forums. Looking forward to see what you come up with.:)

Umm, if there was no need for improvement, we would all still be using version 4.0 or something like that.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
