Dwayne,
I've had some challenges with the images in vsd from time to time.. but here is what I have found that, so far, works 100% of the time.

In my project under the _Website folder (I think this is what they refer to as the root folder), I create a Folder that I place all the images in that I use on my pages (call it SiteImages, or something to that effect, I put mine on the same level as the "files" folder that VSD creates). It doesnt matter where I create them (Photoshop, PSP, stock photes, etc), but I put them in that folder first. Then, when I add an image to the page, I ALWAYS pull it from that folder, and no where else. (This also has the effect of backing up ALL files in your project when you back up the _Website project folder.)

When you pull your images from the ImageFiles folder, VSD makes a copy of the images and manages it correctly by creating an "IMG_xx.jpg" copy in the "files" folder. I believe this IMG_xx file is actually the image inserted in the page, but Im not totally sure. But it is linked to it somehow.

In any case, once I started doing it this way, i have had no problems at all. I've also found that it sometimes is good to clean up the IMG files in the "files" folder. I think because they are numbered, that sometimes the numbering gets goofy, and some images get out of sync. In any case, WITH THE PROJECT OPEN IN VSD, i delete all the IMG files, then re-save the project. All the IMG files get re-created with a fresh set of numbers. No left over residual orphans, etc.

I hope this ramble helps.
All my best,
Scott Tucker
