I've used ftp for nearly 25 years. Its not like I'm a newbie at this. I have tried everything I can think of but VSD will not upload to anything but my root directory. I host several sites on my server that is located on Bluedomino.com. I have Coffeecup form builder and its ftp mechanism works perfectly.

I entered my FTP server, my username, my password and /newkids which is the new directory where the files will go. I have checked the site with CuteFTP and varified that the folder exists.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Have you tried with the passive mode selected?

Maybe you have to write public_html/newkids as your root folder?

None of that works. I downloaded Web Jukebox last night and tried it and it works fine. But with VSD I get this response no matter what I try:

Testing Server and Logon.... OK
Testing Folder Creation....ERROR
--------
An unknown error has occured

I can continue to use CuteFTP to upload. I just thought it would be good to us VSD.

have you tried just a forward slash that navigate to that folder?
looks like you have it right, but I know nothing of Blue Domino to really give you any specific answers. Sorry I'm no help. I'm gonna check out Blue Domino.

Thanks Bruce. The funny thing is that I have many of the Coffeecup programs. Most of them have the ftp module in them. All of the other work ... but not Visual Site Designer. It may be incompatible with Bluedomino... but it shouldn't because it was Bluedomino that has been pushing coffeecup for all of these years. I'll contact CoffeeCup after the holidays. They are open again on the 23rd I think.

I like HTML 2007 and VSD. They make a good pair. When I bought them I also bought the pdf book "My Site's Better than Yours!" What a great book. I like what coffeecup has done.

Yes Nick, Coffeecup has some great products and you really can't beat the price. Are we actually Advertising this! (SPAM). lol
I read the book also a fw times, and it actually got me to try some html coding and it's an easy learning tool to work with. I recommend it to all.
I hope you get VSD fixed, I know it's a bummer having to keep uploading with ftp. I am assuming you have all the update versions like VSD 5.74 for example. Have a great Holiday Nick. Be Safe. And please let us know your response.
