I have recently upgraded to Windows Vista Version 6, and everytime I try to start VSD, Vista advises me that "Visual Site Designer has stopped working. Please close the program". I have reinstalled VSD 3 times, and everytime it starts once, but as soon as you try to start it again the same message occurs.
Personally, I don't have the time to re-install VSD everytime I need to use it, which was daily on an XP system, and is still daily.
Any ideas anyone?

Yes, turn off the UAC in Vista.
If you want to keep UAC running, then you'll have to right-click on the VSD icon and run as administrator.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is UAC and how do I turn it off?

As far as I know, it's primary goal is to prevent applications from running without your permission. What the majority of us see is endless nagging of prompts "Allow this or that." You will not lose any functionality, but it does give up some security, some say it's like going back to XP (which I never had a problem with anyway).
Several methods of disabling are here:

Yes, that worked for me, too (I am also limping along with Vista!). It sure is a hassle to start it that way all the time rather than just clicking on the icon, but that's Windows.....
If you disable UAC, you can just click on the icon as usual. I've been disabling UAC first thing. It's a bit of a joke for those who never had virus/security issues with XP (or maybe anyone).
I tried to disable the UAC but I wasnt successful, I did another DL of VSD and then did not disable the UAC and now it is working fine...Im not sure I know exactly why it didnt and now does but I am so happy I can finetune our web site with ease...Thank you Coffee Cup...

I did the run as admin. and it worked for a while, but now it's doing the same thing, I also did run in compatability mode xp, that didn't work either
Is it really safe to disable the UAC?
Honestly, that's outside of the scope of this forum. What you do with your computer is up to you. It's there to make sure you don't go accidentally deleting primary windows files, and/or other important stuff.
