VSD closing down when opening a theme...

Has anyone else had this problem?

I open up the Visual Site Designer and choose a theme and the program shuts down.

I'm using version 6.0R. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the same thing happened.

Any ideas?

Am I the only lucky person to have had this issue? Its getting really frustrating as I can't use the program.

I've been talking with Tech Support but because of the time difference i am only getting a response every 24 hours which is making resolving the issue slow and frustrating.

I've removed the program completely, restarted and fresh installed with a the program freshly downloaded, and I've also tried fresh installs after cleaning with CCleaner and I still get the program closing when I open a theme.

The program did work originally so I don't know why it has suddenly decided not to.

Hiya Tassie,

Have you tried calling CC Support on the phone? You may need to deal with things that way if you can find a time that's convenient for both sides.

Hmm...unless that is a free call internationally it might be a very expensive call, and probably not a good option for me with an ankle biter who has a sixth sense for when I am on the phone.

I'm hoping someone will have some inspiration for me soon...I'll send chocolate through the modem to anyone who can help.

You are not by any chance using 64-bit OS?
Have you tried to - temporarily, for testing - disable firewalls, virus protection and any extraneous, extra utilities like toolbars, etc.?

HI Per,

no I haven't tried that yet. I suddenly thought today i might try it on my laptop and see if it works on that and that will give me an idea if its something on my desktop that is interacting.

I have a 32 bit system and it did work for a little while so not sure why it suddenly decided to stop working as I can't think of anything new on my system apart from other Coffee Cup programs.

Okay,

I tried it on my laptop and it seems to work there so looks like there is some conflict on my desktop computer.

I've tried turning off my virus protection, my firewall, closed down all other programs, I've uninstalled a couple of CC programs that i recently installed and its still crashing.

What else might be causing a conflict?

Despite all that you have done to try to isolate this, it still sound like some kind of conflict with something else on your computer...
Have you tried starting up VSD without a theme, i.e. by cancelling the initial welcome screen that asks for a theme, etc. and just start with a blank page? Then, later, open a theme and see if the same thing happens.
Is it always the same theme that gives you trouble, or have you tried with different ones?
You didn't by any chance download and use one of those Miraculous Useful Utilities that promises to speed up your computer, internet connection and just about everything else by a factor of hundreds...? ;)
Apart from this, I think I am running out of suggestions and only a CC support ticket would be able to help!

One of those 'Miraculous useful utilities' caused me having to reformat and do a clean install a couple of months ago...
