Hi,

I have a web site published but wanted to make some changes to it. Now when I try to upload it I get the message "C:\Documents&....V6_website\contact files\let's_talk.php was not found. Do you want to continue uploading your site anyway?" The actual file in My Documents file is just "...contact files\let's_talk.php"

I didn't change my contact form so I don't l know why it is doing this. And if I say yes to continue then it also can not find a gallery file - I did change the gallery.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Deborah

Hi DDF,
If it's only a couple files, I usually go to settings and remove and re-add those files, but I've also restarted my computer and that took care of it.

I've had the gallery automatically update any changes but as to why the cause of this varies from having to many pages open when working on the site to ram usage in my opinion, ( but you didn't get that from me ) lol..
trial and error

That sort of thing can happen if you use punctuation within a file name.

As Carey says, the punctuation is the problem. The file name let's_talk.php is changed to let's_talk.php, which does not exist. You'll need to resave that file as lets_talk.php, or something like that, before uploading. Don't forget to then also change any references or links to that file.

I apologize for misspelling your name, Cary!

Hi Thank you both. I didn't put the punctuation in the name - it appeared all on it's own and I don't know why. Anyway, I am trying to delete any odd looking files and clean out all unnecessary files.

If you always save file as the same name should it not just replace and update the files or does it create a new one?

And when you upload files from Photo Gallery - in the Remote Server - should you make a new file folder for each Photo Gallery File?

Thanks again,

Deborah

Hiya DDF,

When you save files as the same name, as long as you are saving them to the same location they will overwrite the old ones (usually you will get a pop up window asking you if you want to do this unless you are uploading things via the CC software that is). If you save them to a different location then it creates new ones.

Each gallery should have it's own folder inside your main gallery folder.

Thank you so much - now hopefully I can clean up the mess of files I have created through the learning process!!
