VSD, Can't SAVE!

I just got through spending about three hours editing my website in VSD. VSD now tells me the changes could not be saved! I even copied the existing file, renamed it, and tried to save to that. NO GO!

HELP! I didn't do anything unusual! I even went back and 'undid' some of my changes and it still won't save!

HELP! I don't want to lose my website!!!

I think you have to tell us a bit more what you have done. I.e. is the original site made with a former version of VSD and you have upgraded in the meantime? Did you open the .vnu file when you wanted to edit your site, or have you edited something using a different programme?

I have never come across a situation like yours, so please be specific as to the steps you've taken.

It just says "The Changes could not be saved" No error code or anything.

I'm using Version 5.74. No, I did not update since using it the last time.

I have never used anything but VSD to edit my site.

The newest version of VSD is 5.8.3. Installing it would mean that you have to uninstall your current version and reboot, so you will obviously lose the changes.

Or, do you happen to have a second pc where you can install the newest version and then copy over the original vnu file with the folder (since you haven't been able to save, they must be in their original state, right?), and then with both pc's open try the making the same changes and see if that works? At least you'll have the new version at hand to look at while working.

If nothing works, I suggest you contact CC support on Monday.

All I did was go in and make changes to the site (.vnu) and then tried to save it. I am also having a lot of trouble with uploading it. I keep getting the upload error. It seems to hang up on a different file each time I try the upload. I used the "pages only" upload and my site was all screwed up. So I have to use the "Send All" option.

Grrrr! I'm frustrated.

Unfortunately I don't have a different PC to try it on. That's a good suggestion though!

I'm afraid I'm just going to have to lose the changes and uninstall CC VSD and download and install the new version. Hopefully my original file hasn't gotten messed up in the meantime!

VSD does pop open a file box to let me save it. I've renamed it in that box and then I get "Homepage could not be saved".

Sorry I wasn't more helpful! At least take a screen shot of your pages before you close them, so that you have the changes as an image to aide you when you start up with them again!
And do reboot between uninstalling and reinstalling!

Oops! Already uninstalled and reinstalled without rebooting! My bad. I didn't even think of the screen shots. No problem, I know what I changed. I'll have to do it again.

Do you know if the new version of VSD recognizes transparent .gifs? The old one didn't. Drove me crazy!

Thanks!
