VSD and HTML

Okay, so I love VSD . . . except . . . stuff doesn't always show up the way it should. Things don't always sit where they are supposed to, etc.

So, I'm wondering, can I open the html files created by VSD in CC's html editor and then save them as html files that I can load up to my servor and only load the .img files that are actual objects, and not load the .img files that are VSD created .img files that are segments of pages?

Does this question make sense. What I mean is that VSD creates .img files that are cut up pieces of the page, in addition to creating .img files that are actual objects, like a button or photo. Those cut up pieces seem to wreak havoc at times, not matching up.

As an example on this page http://www.transformyourheart.com On the bottom right side, there is a red heart graphic with some text over it. VSD put the heart and then a VSD created segment of the heart with the text over it and it is a mess. Is this avoidable?

I would love to load the html and all the .img files that are actual pictures and ditch the .img files that are VSD created odd bits of a page. I assume it can't be done, but just checking.

Thanks
Donna

Yes, you can do that. However any changes made outside of VSD will be lost.

Looking at your website, I think files are just out of sync. Go to the Publish Menu and select Re-Sync Website and that should fix things up.

Hey Scott

thanks. I just went to VSD and clicked on publish and I do not see any Re Sync options. Do I need a new version of VSD?

Also, are you saying that I can indeed load the site up from the html files and just load the .img files that are actual objects and not load up the .img files that are VSD created pieces of the page, and it will read correctly and look right? I would love that.

thanks

p.s. I clicked on the publish option next to Tools,( instead of the publish logo, next to the preview logo) and indeed, it does say re-sync there, however, it is not active . . . not clickable. I use filezilla as an ftp.
Does the resync thing only work with your s drive?

Thanks

You are using the latest version Donna and that feature is there. Look again.. ;)

You can do anything you want with the output VSD creates. Everything you need is in the _website folder.

You need to go to the Publish Menu and then Choose a Publishing Destination. Now select your site and then use try Re-Sync. Because it was not active, that explains many of the problems you are having.

Okay Scott.

I will do this and see how it goes. I'm signing off for the night. If I need more help I'll check in again.
Thank you so so much.

I knew nothing about this.
Thanks
