VSD 6.0 (B6) - VSD looks good /...

I'm sure we went through this before, and my search in the forums didn't bring anything new, but I think the two images below will provide a good sense of the situation.

Using VSD the shapes and text look correctly placed. When I try to see the same in the browser (Firefox or IE) the shape looks "longer" or the text looks "compressed".

I have no absolute positions anywhere.

If you are using the strict doctype, try transitional.

This is transitional.

In strict mode it is worse....

Scott,

I believe I found the problem in VSD.

When you create a shape and then add text that you type right there and then, there is no problem with the "out of shape" text in the final web display in a browser.

If you create a shape then Cut & Paste text from another source, the "out of shape" text will be shown in the final web display in a browser.

The problem is NOT with the shape's size, it is with the text. Even if generic fonts are used, a typed in text will be shown correctly but a pasted text will, somehow, shrink a bit when the web pages are displayed in a browser. All that while in VSD all seems okay.

If anyone can verify this, it may help CC developers... I hope.

I tried, and I found the following:

Preview in the built-in browser and in IE8 gave the same result, but I had to make the background shape underneath the text longer so that all the text could fit on it when previewed in FF3.0.12.

As far as I could see it was not the text that changed, but the line height. And to me it seems to be the same whether the text is written in directly or copy-pasted.

Ha en riktig god dag!

Inger,
This makes it even worse.

If there is no change in how text was entered into a page, than it is the compilation on the VSD that creates this problem.

From CC support they confirm my findings - without any option to correct it, which is opposite to what you wrote above.

---------------------------
"Yes, that is correct, because you are copying ans pasting the text from an outside source, the formatting of the text is carried over as well which VSD will most likely be able to formation for html files.

----------------------------

If what Orlando wrote is correct, than VSD is useless because it won't allow cut and paste action in text.

I know for sure that it was working well in version 5.x, else I wouldn't have purchased the full set of tools from CC.

Anyone with ideas, other than adjusting the size of the Object in the design so it will look good in the final display inside a browser?

Thanks.

What I do for cut and paste will work.

If you want to use MS Word to spell check, grammar check, etc., then when finished, copy the text.

Paste the text into a text editor such as Notepad that has NO formatting settings. Now select the text in Notepad, copy it, and paste into the location you have set for it in VSD.

With a little practice, it will happen faster than you can read this message. (if you read slow like I do.) :D
