VSD 5.6 or VSD 6 - Removing my site...

How difficult is it to temporarily post a page (or pages) to the web simply to see if it works properly, then pull it off the web to continue working on it?

I'm working on my first website (using VSD only) and anticipate quite a few problems before I'm ready for people to be browsing it.

The site I'm working on is nowhere near where I want it to be when it's finished, but I want to have a better idea of how it'll look and work than I can get from the "Preview" screen. So I'd like to upload it, but want to take it down immediately after I check it out. Is that easy to do?

Thanks for your help,

pd

Depending on your ISP you might have a file manager utility in your cpanel that lets you delete files pretty easily. Regardless of whether you have that available, pretty much any dedicated FTP client will let you delete files from your server.

Hi Paul,
you could make a sub folder on your server to pload to via VSD,
where the WWW is (in the ftp settings in VSD) just add a folder name.
an example is if you upload to public_html then change it to public_html/foldername then VSD will upload to that folder. Then for you to preview online just type in yourdomain/foldername/index.html and you'll be able to see you tested site. If you leave the www slot blank just add this /foldername and get the same results.this leaves your current website operational while you test your new site.

How about creating yet another VSD web site consisting of one page, blank or "under construction". Then when you are done with your test page you can upload the blank page to the same URL. This seems easier to a dumb bass player....
I have an inferiority complex - but it is not a very good one.
