Try going to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d … laylang=en and download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) for your operating system. That should add the required DLL's back to your system.

I downloaded the Redistibutable package for my operating sys and ran it. I first selected the option to uninstall anything there. Then I ran it again to do a complete install.
I uninstalled the original VSD and then reinstalled it. I still receive the same missing MFC90.dll message, when starting VSD.

It sounds to me like the above package did not install because the MDF90.dll is included in that installer.

I am not sure if you can simply install that file manually or not, but you can find it online here.

Just Googled the missing .dll and came up with this page (see link above) that offers that file up for re-installation.

The MCF90.dll did install in the directory windows\winSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC90.MFC_1fc8b..(really long name)

I moved a copy of MCF90.dll from that directory to the CoffeeCupSoftware\VisualSiteDesigner directory. When I try to run, it then gives a new error message "MSVCP90.dll not found". That file is in the windows\winSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b..(really long name).

I don't think moving each DLL to the VisualSiteDesigner directory is the answer. Do I have to adjust my Windows setup to look in these paths?

You cannot run DLL's. You just copy them to the appropriate location on your computer. Software that needs those DLL's will automatically use them.

However if you still get the error that the DLL is missing when starting Visual Site Designer, that means those files were still not properly installed on your system.

A few things to check:

1. You are an admin user and you have access to install that pack.
2. You are on the latest version of your OS included all service packs.
3. You have the latest version of IE installed (no 6 or 7)
4. No anti-virus or firewall program is preventing this pack from installing.

What also helps is booting into safe mode which bypasses any 3rd party programs and then install the pack and re-install Visual Site Designer and see if that helps.

I have VSD running on my XP. For what it is worth, I perfomed the following steps:

Disabled anti-virus program
Uninstalled the Visual C library with the vcredist_x86.exe program
Uninstalled the Visual Site Designer with add/remove program.

Deleted directory for Visual Site Designer located in the \program files\CoffeeCup Software folder. (I think this is an important step as there are remnants)

Reboot computer
Turn off anti-virus
Install C library with vcredist_x86.exe

Rebooted computer
Turn off anti-virus
Install latest Visual Site Designer version 7.0

I did try installing the C library and VSD in SAFE mode but it gave error messages and would not install.

The program is now running.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you Stephen for reporting back. May I ask, what anti-virus program are you using?

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a link to a page that would tell me the difference between VSD7.18 and VSD7.19 -- I am running 18 running and it is working to my satisfaction. I don't want to change anything unless there is some new latest and greatest feature in 19.

Thanks for the help,
yeto
