I upgraded to VSD 7.0. Installation completed ok, but when I tried to open VSD nothing happened. I am running Windows 7. I eventually had to use the Windows "Troubleshoot Compatibility" feature to set VSD to run under Windows XP compatibility mode. Windows "Troubleshoot Compatibility" feature is found by right clicking on VSD icon, select "Troubleshoot Compatibility", select "Try Recommended Settings". This may solve the problem opening the application.

Hiya Michael,

Did you try setting it to run as administrator? Usually that's all that is needed if Windows 7 gives us issues.

I have the same problem, I uninstalled and redownloaded twice with the same results. It would work fine the first time and than not work again. I am using windows vista. Now to get it to work I have to right click and open as administrator. This seems to be working fine now.

Hiya Ken,

If you right click the shortcut and go to the Properties, you can go to the Compatibility tab and set it to run as administrator so you don't have to do the right click each time you run the program. Tedious crap they added to Vista and Windows 7 :/

I had this problem running VSD 7 under Windows 7 x64 and only worked when I ran it in Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode. The funny thing is I have now turned off the Compatiblity Mode and it still works! I guess it only needs it for its first run?

I would bet that if you reboot it will have the same issue. Although you should be able to run all of our software on a 64-bit system, sometimes the stars are just not in alignment and we need to give the software a kick to work. ;)

That's a shame. Do you have plans to support Windows 7 x64 more completely?

If you are asking if we will ever make a true 64-bit program, I would probably say no. Having a dedicated 64-bit version only makes sense for applications that needs large amounts of memory (over 4GB). Since none of our applications require that much memory, nor are system resource intensive, a 32-bit version is more than adequate.

That makes sense, but what about one that doesn't need to run in Compatibility Mode?

That is just a fail safe encase Windows won't let you launch VSD. For me here on my Sony Vaio Windows 7 64-bit I do not have to do that at all.
