Virtual Site Designer won't start
HI everyone,
VSD won't start or run at all.
I am running win7 64
When I click on VSD icon I get the win start up icon for a few seconds then nothing, no error messages, no nothing.
I have uninstalled and re-installed twice.
I have run maleware and anti-virus several times.
Before the second install, I cleaned all VSD files and registry entries, before reinstalling.
No help.
I have it set to run as an administrator. Still no help.
I am at a total loss, we have dozens of pages that were just waiting for the finishing touches before we uploaded them to the server. We have managed to save the files outside of VSD folders. So we are not too concerned about losing work, but it is very frustrating that I just can't get the program to run.
I was told by the operator that just before it quit running there was a one time very quick pop up message that flashed for about 1/2 a second so the operator was not able to read it all, but he was able to read something about "a VNU EDX side by side program error". But that is the only clue we have as to what is wrong.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Brad,
1) Sorry, but I am not a VSD user, so ideas I would offer are generic.
Here's one: I presume that VSD had been working fine for you. Is that correct? If so, think over what may have changed on your PC since your last recollection that VSD started up with no trouble. (Hint: You might have to look at the creation or update dates of files that VSD manipulated to be sure about date & time.) For instance, have you updated device drivers or installed / updated some software? Maybe there is some side effect on VSD that you could reverse using MS-Windows System Restore.
Here's another: Did you agree to let Microsoft apply its latest "Patch Tuesday" updates to your system? I recall that the latest batch required that I restart my PC in order for them to properly take effect. From time to time, I have "repaired" Windows PCs by simply shutting them down and cold booting a couple of times in order to let updates take effect.
Hope I am not insulting you with these suggestions. Though I freshly boot my computers daily, I know that many people leave Windows PCs running for months.
2) See your avatar picture (currently the default silhouette) on the upper right side of the page? Below the picture, I expect you see your true name. If you would like to substitute a nickname, click "Edit My Profile, " which is a few lines below. You should see a page titled "Profile Editor." Change the text under "Your Nickname" to suit you.
Oops, I see upon page refresh that you're now nicknamed Lots0Cash, so you found your answer before I could finish writing.

Yes, I looked just like that in 1962.

I often offer this as a quick fix, have you tried opening a new windows user account, install VSD in that account and see if it will run.
If it does, chances are its a PC issue not a VSD issue

Configure the shortcut to always run as administrator. Here's how:
1. Right-click the shortcut icon, and click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Here, put a check mark by Run This Program as an Administrator.
4. Next, put a check mark next to Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For: and ensure Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 is selected.
