Hello to all again and sorry to bother, again. I have been attempting to upload my site for the past several days and can not complete the process. I had catalog, connection & updates to VSD 7 problems which I resolved however after completing my first upload [per the VSD program, after the status bar completed the upload process] I noticed some problems so I made changes [color of pages & fonts for appearance] & attempted another upload. After about 20 more attempts I can not get the changes to load & it appears the only the first 4 pages loaded correctly. The balance of the pages have red x's in shapes, text & buttonizers boxes. I have been reading the forums and can not figure out how to get my website to upload correctly.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Rocco, Try turning off your anti virus firewall while you are uploading your site. I had the same problem and that took care of the problem.

Well as far as using VSDs upload feature i cat really help you. I never yoused it.... But if you use CCs Direct FTP program or Filezilla or a program like that it is very simple. VSDs program is more recommended and is pretty cheap. All you have to do is drag and drop your websites folder over to you hosting prover( you need to know all your account info to there site and what not).

give us a link so we cna check it out .... that always helps...

Also it sounds like they uploaded into the wrong folder..... Therefore id drop a few bucks and download CCs FTP program real fast. Then you can go in adn see all your folders and move em around correctly.

Rocco, a link to your site might help someone to figure out what's going on here. It doesn't seem that the images are getting uploaded (red x's).

You should be able to log-in to your web hosting control panel to see what got uploaded, and where to. If the image files and graphics (roll-overs) aren't there, have a look on your computer for your web site files. Within your site's folder, there should be the .vnu file and a folder called Files - this has all the images in it. Make sure your folders/files are in order and that you haven't moved any of your image files. Also, check how you've named your images - make sure there are no spaces or unusual characters; for instance: my photo#1.jpg rather than my_photo1.jpg. Mixed cases can cause glitches too: MYPHOTO1.jpg and myphoto2.jpg - best to stick with all lower case letters. And try Dave's suggestion - turn off your firewall (you might need to check Passive Mode as well.

Please don't make yourself crazy with this - post a link so you can get some help :)

True story... I went nuts trying to upload a site, spent hours digging through files trying to find out why it wouldn't upload. Bruzer (forum member) took a look at things for me and solved the mystery in seconds - I was putting public-html instead of public_html in the ftp info

Hello Paintbrush, I check my images and I have over 3k images, can't be right. It appears that when I was playing around in the beginning with colors and font it saved all the shapes, buttons and text boxes. Should I delete the images I know are not part of the site and rename the others?

I will also check my hosting site for the information.

Thanks again for your help!

Rocco - Check your Files folder. You have a lot of duplicate images you don't need. For example, if you have an image named 'myphoto.jpg', every time you copy, move or add a special effect then save your site, VSD will create duplicates of that image. They'll have numbers rather than your original file name (IMG_123.jpg). So you could get rid of those and just re-insert the original where you need it.

I hope someone else with some html/css knowledge can tell you why your menu is disappearing on some of the pages - it seems to have shifted above the page??? For the other images that don't show up, you could try deleting them, then make sure the originals are in your web site files and try re-inserting them. You do have some odd page names. This for example: 91WCCSCLic.html. As mentioned above, it would be best if you kept all your file names in one case rather than mixing upper and lower cases.

A few other things - You've used a non-standard font (Surfboard) for the W-C-C-S-C-LLC, only people who have Surfboard installed on their computer will see it, the rest of us will see a default font (Arial for me) instead. In my case, it's causing the LLC to drop off at the end and overlap other objects/text.

On the 'Diminished Value' page, the black text over the red pattern is almost impossible to read, I'd also reconsider the blue text over orange on the "About" page. The most important thing is making sure users can easily get the information they need - don't make them work too hard or they'll go elsewhere :(

As Kendrick suggested - do check your files on the server (log in to your control panel) and see if the images and your menu are there somewhere.
