Hi all,
I have been away from the forum for a bit, and just reading this post. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Coffeecup have a free ftp that can be used to upload your files to the Internet?
http://www.coffeecup.com/free-ftp/
If Coffeecup is offering to help remotely connect to your computer, and help diagnose the problem (and probably for free! wow) then give them some time to do it. I deal with many companies, and that kind of service would cost big $$$$$$$.
From what I see in these posts, you are having trouble uploading using VSD. OK, some of you say some files upload, and some don't, but you don't say which is which. Please try to provide a little more detail as to what files don't upload, and send it to coffeecup.com/help
Create a support ticked and they will really try to do their best to help out. This is only a public user forum afterall, and CC does not always catch every problem that gets posted in here. I have seen many times where upload problems were cause by incorrectly named files being used, or page names with spaces or special characters, like %^&*#! in the name. Double check user names and passwords and try "passive mode" if it's an option to see if that uploads better.

over the last few months... first I couldn't upload on my desktop PC, then a laptop, then my office PC
CC feels they have a conflict with Norton and want me to disable to test - I haven't had the time - more I don't have the time to reload Norton (laptop and work PC are using corporate Symantic)
I'm just a hacker that was enjoying CC's visual designer. I'm using it for an association and I need to update - can't wait any longer.
Any other options besides Xsite?

Cafoell,
You may want to click on profile and change your forum name to something other than your email address.
Why would you need to reload your Norton? You can just disable it. When I had Norton installed, I could use the task bar icon to disable for a specified period of time.
You can also use a different method of uploading the files, such as the CC free FTP, or Filezilla.

One of the things we have been trying to do is create a sort of chart so we can have a better understanding of the problem.
I posted a thread at http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/our-des … -solution/
To date, only two people have given us any additional information that we have requested. Until we can collect more data, it is very hard to get a grasp as to what the problem is.
We really need at least 50 people to provide us with the information. Having only 2 makes it nearly impossible.

Guess What?!!!!
I just finished renaming all of my images so that there are no spaces in the name. I also centralized all of these images by placing them all in the same folder. Each page having a sub folder of the images on that page. I then saved the vnu file as a sub folder also. I turned off all spyware and antivirus programs. I then tried to re-sync the website. First time- no luck. Second time- got further but still no luck. Third time- YES!!! (On the 3rd attempt I also unchecked the passive mode box.)
Note that I had previously tried to disable the spyware & antivirus programs along with unchecking the passive mode box- but this is the first time I had also centralized the files and removed the spaces from the file names.
Taking 3 tries may not sound like a breakthrough but this is the first time in about a month that this site has uploaded succesfully. (And I have tried for a lot more than 3 successful goes in the past). I'll keep you posted on future uploads.
I hope you see this post Boyd, rix and sailr. And of course Scott!

Just thought I'd mention that I'm using VSDs internal FTP.

Not working again
It uploaded fine maybe 2 times after this and then back to that dreaded message "There was an error..." Even when I tried to re-sync again.
How are you others going who have had problems and posted about them? Any major breakthroughs?

So far only 6 people have filled out the information we needed. It has helped but for us to really get a good grasp on it we need more.
So if you are one of those having issues, please do send me that information.

Hi Scott,
I just had a thought. Perhaps the memory problem that others are talking about and the picture hanging followed by "There was an error...." are related. Could it be that VSD is doing something in the background while VSD is trying to upload. When it gets busy doing this background stuff, the picture hangs- ie. the upload stops temporarily. Then VSD times out on the upload. This background stuff could be causing the out of memory problem that others are having.
Perhaps this is why the issue is only on some computers - those with less RAM?
I know I'm a novice but I just thought I'd share these thoughts. :0)
